That caption is weird, and I can,'t read what's written on the headstock properly. From what I've seen, a BB1200 (my cover photo) has one reverse P pickup, two black flat-top plastic knobs with numbers and that's it.
gobasserk
I finally found a guy that does great lacquer jobs for a reasonable price and I will bring him a first bass, a 1000MA for a new finish tomorrow. If I like the result, I may buy quiet a number of other Yamaha's to get them turned in my own signature basses.

That’s the first bbn4, they had a 3+1 headstock and apparently Musicman weren’t best pleased. They crop up occasionally, but not at £
gobasserk
So cool....I'm just back from the lacquer guy.... took a look at some examples of his work... I like his work. Price is very fair.... 2 hours driving was worth it. Now the wait begins... 🙂 Edited April 20, 2021 by gobasserk

matbard
Pretty good results after the second hand of ink: However, despite the heavy masking with vinyl tape, I suffered some smearing, very hard to remove: I don’t recommend this!

Marty Forrer
My BB605, born 2002, to which I fitted Delano pickups, Aguilar OBP-3 preamp with active/passive and mid-shift, Dunlop flushmount straplocks and TI Jazz flats. I have been able to get the action incredibly low (3/64" on G string, 24th fret) and it plays and sounds incredible.

I am looking for more of a Humbuckers in a single coil size for my BB605 too and I thought about the Delano with big poles. But I'm also curious about these ones. Ricky Rioli
"Unfortunately, the truss rod nut has failed out of warranty, having either come unthreaded or broken, and just spins freely in its collar. The hex socket isn’t stripped and the nut is captive, so can’t be repaired or replaced by itself. Yamaha say they don’t supply replacement necks and that to replace the truss rod will need the fingerboard to be removed, a job that’s beyond my skill level and my pocket. Although technically “playable”, the neck relief can’t be altered as the rod cannot be tensioned"

That’s what I’d do.
