32" Medium Scale Bass Thread

Rumple

Recommended Posts

After my recent conversion to medium scale basses I thought I'd start a 32" scale (only) bass thread as I'd love to see what people have.

Here are my two, a MIJ Squier Precision Bass and a MIJ Fender JB62M Jazz Bass.

Really really like the look of both of those Rumple :)
Hmmm, shall I sell all my long scalers, and buy some like that?
I've got one 32" scale bass, and I have to say, it seems a nice comfortable scale length to me

Go on then, always happy to post my Zoot Custom medium scale:

Aguilar pickups and passive electronics. Sounds wonderful and plays like a dream.

Rather unimaginatively I also have a Squier PB-331 and a JB-32M. I must try harder. These are great little basses and super comfortable to play.

Here's a pic of the JB-62M with its (almost) matching Lakland big brother.

And here's the Squier (also from Paul S)

Great thread Rumple. Here's my Westone Concord which is another of Paul's exes.

All the tone of a 34", but with the ergonomics and speed of a short-scale. I especially love the maple fretboard on mine, as well as the modded, all-black look which was how I picked it up.

I'm on the lookout for another 32" bass, so if anybody notices anything out there then please point me in the right direction. Failing that, I may put together my own.

Anyone know any famous 32" users? There are plenty of SS players, but I wonder if we can find any of our fellow medium-scalers!

That Yamaha looks like it could be used as a weapon if needed --- an axe in both meanings!

I did wonder about getting one of THESE conversion necks at some point, they quoted $50 to ship to the UK, so about £100 plus Taxes and import duty.

Neck pup a bit muddy? There is a topic on here somewhere about rewiring it from serial to parallel. Worth doing!

I've built this bass 11 years ago (out of raw wood! :D ), then modified it at least couple of times. Still is my main bass (that is when I don't play upright)!

All the 138 photos :D :
