Overwater Progress 3. Commissioned by myself in 2001 and built by Chris May up in the Overwater workshop.
5 string (brand new un-played Overwater light gauge strings just fitted). 36" scale for the BEST sounding B string.
Quilted maple top on walnut body with a 5 piece through neck including purple-heart stringers - absolutely stunning to look at.
Super smooth neck, fast and has a beautiful finish.
3 band active 9volt on board pre amp plus master volume and pickup pan all with hand turned pot knobs. 2 Overwater custom soap bar pick ups.
1/4" jack out PLUS balanced XLR for going direct to the desk. Incredible tone due to the exotic woods and craftsmanship. Perfect neck and has a medium action. 24 jumbo frets (unmarked) and Overwater custom tuners.
Solid aluminium cast bridge with hand made brass saddles with 3 way adjustment.
If a clear punchy tone is what you're looking for, this is the bass! Plus with the 36" scale the bass always cuts through the mix.
It's in perfect condition with no buckle rash or marks. There is some black paint worn off the bridge bottom and the brass could use a polish but other than that it's immaculate.
Sound engineers love it as the electronics are silent. I believe the new price for this is around £3500 - check out the Overwater website.
Only used professionally in theatres, corporate events, TV work and studios.
It's a superb hand made custom instrument that hasn't been used much for the last 4yrs as I'm doing 90% of my work on my double basses.
