Good afternoon FlatEric

I'm afraid it was just tried on for size but I think the saddle springs will need removed putting a 40 on a 45.

edit

Scratch that idea, I'm talking out my A***e. Forgot to check the string ferrules. Can't see there being enough play.

Sorry to have raised your hopes :(

Super rare colour and fretboard combo. Plays nice. Everything works perfectly and minor war wounds considering it's age. Comes with original headcase (chainsaw type) that is also in great condition inside and out.
I spent a long time searching for this and ended up importing from the USA. Just can't get on with the P-bass width neck.
£650, no offers, no trades. Collection from Farnborough, Hampshire but happy to ship if you wanna pay for it (probably £40 fully insured). PayPal gift payment if shipping.

I don't need to sell this so don't bother lowballing me or messing me about.

This is my black T40

£650 is a helluva high price. Further down the page a fella's asking £450 for his maple board T40. 2 months now,not one offer.
Yep, it is a high price but this...

Oh God, it's black and rosewood with blades... Finally one comes along and I don't have the cash!
...is the reason why.

Finding this colour and neck combo is the T40 equivalent of finding a 60s Jazz Bass in, say, lake placid blue as opposed to the ten-a-penny sunburst ones - but instead of it quadrupling the price, it's just a couple of hundred more.

650 it what it owes me from when I imported it. And as per the ad, I don't NEED to sell it so I can afford to be stubborn.

It certainly is a stunning looking bass. In addition I agree with your justification

This T40 has some chips out of the body, a hole drilled in an attempt to convert to 5 string, volume knob missing, non original switch and no case.....£300. I suggested that £225 needs to be spent and that the bass has had a very hard life! What would you offer?

Selling this due to lack of use. Easily the most massive sounding bass I've had.
Strings are a few months old but barely used.
I've tried to get photos of all the damage. The bass still plays great and looks ok from a distance but it's got it's fair share of battle scars.
Little crack in pickguard
Chips on edge of body
Peavey pot missing
Random hole drilled in headstock - I cannot for the life of me imagine why
Dead fret on 13th
Still sounds amazing and all the controls work as they should.
£300 ono. Would prefer collection only but could maybe arrange shipping
*Has no case but can provide Fender gig bag with it*
Take it you mean the £450 one as the Black/rosewood is still on eBay for £650. I'm happy to see somebody's listed one for £850,might stop folks breaking them for parts like their doing just now.

Lovely through neck bass,I reckon made in Indonesia but much like the Vietnamese Grind BXP.

No idea about the passive Cirrus though I've saw it on an ebay seller's spiel. Cirrus have a wide cut to the lower horn,Zephyrs don't.
Cirrus have VFLs,Zephyrs don't. Cirrus have ABM bridges,Zephyrs don't.Cirrus have graphite, Zephyrs don't.Cirrus are 35" scale,Zephyrs are 34" scale.

You see a pattern forming

That said what is the Zephyr like ? Same flat top humbucker pickups as the Grinds, 2 volume 2 Tone, High mass bridge. Neck is slightly thicker front to back than on the Grind,I'd also say the fretboard radius was different. If I can lay my hands on my gauges I'll tell you what the radius is.

My Zephyr 5 had knackered pots so as I was changing them I added a preamp. I swapped the pickups too,not that they were bad just I was souping it up so might as well stick in new pickups.. I've heard from some folks that they expected more from the pickups but that's down to personal taste/string & set up.A recent owner of a Vietnamese Grind told me they prefer the Zephyr tone but feel of the Grind.

I'll admit to being a fan of the passive Grind so think highly of the Zephyr but the Zephyr is far closer to the Grind than the Cirrus. Couple of year back they were selling for £100 but a really nice 5'er sold few months back for £200.I had a few bids on that 5'er myself :)

Upshot. Well built, great playing/looking bass with the jury out on tone.

When I go looking for the gauges I'll try and dig my BXP Cirrus out, could be that's the Cirrus they mean and not the USA Cirrus :)

Saw it. Hard to say what the "Plus" stands for. Axcelerator 5 like mine has similar spec but 35" scale and Wilkinson 3D bridge. Guess the "Plus" must stand for the slightly high mass bridge. Not too common here, bar myself I only know one other Axcelerator owner. Is it worth £375 ? That's hard to say as I'm sure you've noticed by now there's not many folk clamoring to buy Peaveys. They don't appear often so if you're collecting it's worth buying,if not then remind yourself it's over half the price of a Cirrus. :)

You far from Newton Abbot ? The Zodiac DE on eBay is a good bass and the £180 is a good price. Only concern is I don't see the "Basslines" logo on the pickups, might have worn off but I'd be asking the seller to confirm.

I can get it for under £300. Looks in mint condition. Not seen many around. Not really that bothered about the DE Zodiak. Doesn't seem to offer too much between what I already own.

Could have bought a mint DE for £130 two months ago...............
