Jazz is a bit out of his depth I would think. He lives in dwygyfylchi
which is between Llandudno and Conwy

I went to Bangor University in the 1970s and at that time the licencing laws meant that you couldn't get a drink on Sunday in Gwynedd, so we used to drive to Dwlygyfylchi where the pubs were open, get beery, then drive back to the halls of residence with takeouts and listen to F. Zappa and other good stuff all afternoon.

Call Any Vegetable made perfect sense later....

 • 3 years later...

I was just about to start my own thread, when I came across this old one.

I'm an old punk looking for something to do in Gwynedd, near Caernarfon.

Just mountains and sheep where I am, so it looks like I may have burnt my bridges as far as playing in a band goes, but maybe somebody knows of something social?

Cheers,

Jake M

Hi Jake,

There's loads going on round here, but you've got to dig to find it.
Caernarfon is not exactly the home of live music and Bangor is better with loads of bands and a decent live scene.
Are you on facebook?
If so, make friends with some local promoters and you will hear of plenty of gigs and jam nights - my band's page is http://facebook.com/tacsiband
It will be quiet gig wise now until the Spring when things start to liven up again, with parties and festivals in the mountains and gigs at Hendre, Cobdens, Cell B etc.

Oh and croeso y Cymru.

I think the chester Hangman has a jam night on a Sunday and thursday (why always a thursday ?) Or at least it used to. According to its website there is one on this week.

EDIT: Bloody hell Strike those Chester pubs from consideration. Just had a pipe at the map. Seems he's miles away in the middle of nowhere. Nearer to Anglesea than Wrexham never mind Chester (which is in England and 50 miles away!) I know of nowhere to jam, that far out from civilisation. :) I can remember when that area was 'Dry' on a Sunday when i was young. Its inhuman, I tells ya. :)

Cheers Redstriper.

Anyone out out there in Gwynedd, I'll gladly come to see your band if I can possibly get there. Message me and I'll send my email. I love it here in Middle Earth, and wouldn't want to be anywhere else, but as I said, feel like I've burnt my bridges somewhat.

Cheers,

Jake M
