I have to say, Christine and the Queens, the number they did with the dancing, was fascinating. Highlight of the show for me.

Also, I agree, Imelda May was excellent.

I'm glad folks have different tastes, Christine and the Queens, bloody awful and the other French female vocalist doing Black Betty.

Yep, we all like different things. I have to agree re the Black Betty debacle though.

Dont know why musicians moan about the content of the Hoot, after all it has to appeal to a huge range of tastes.

Really? I can only think of one act I've liked on Jools Holland's show, and none on a "Hootenanny".

What? Ever? Are you into death metal or something? If so neither of those shows would suit you.

I have watched Jools' show on and off for many years and have discovered several bands and musicians from watching it. I also enjoy the Hootenanny show, although this year was not the strongest one.

The following in his 2013 Hootenanny show is one of my all time favourites:

PS: Playing through my cinema system as enhanced music brings out the bass mix beautifully.

As stated in my previous post, I do enjoy Hootenanny every year.
Must concede though that this year's wasn't the strongest, and agree that Imelda May stole it
over a rather otherwise ordinary show. Enjoyed ABC though, and Gregory Porter and Rag n Boneman.
Also Ruby Turner was her usual excellent self, and loved Chaka Khan's outfit ;)

Is it me or do all Seasick Steve's songs sound the same - droning bottom string guitar, and everything twice
as long as it should be?

You have to go back to the mid 70's to hear something different. :)
