I see. I'm fairly new to this mullarkey. I'm glad it exists, as this is the first time I've really composed stuff, or written any kind of lyrics, and it's giving me something to help my drumming get tighter (a relative term, I should note!), and being time-bound, it makes me get stuck in. I'm finding it a nice diversion while my band isn't up to a whole lot.

When I chose the pic for this month's challenge I was expecting, and hoping for some tracks that would remind my of Harley Poe. I really wanted to hear some fun macabrism going on and I wasn't disappointed.

Dad starts us off with a percussive melody that could easily have been played on the mummy's ribcage. There's something about the fiddle that had the image of a devil messing around behind me (thanks for that, how will I sleep?!)

Christofloffer jumps right in and gets that Harley Poe theme spot on. A dusty jazz club full of skeletons? Oh yeah, I could see that.

Leonard's track made me laugh as I couldn't help but picture the mummy singing it. Loved it!

xgsjx came in next with a great beat and groove that perfectly matched the Incafunka name and fit really well with the pic.

Indy's Bones (live) was just beautiful and had me thinking of John Lennon.

Fingers also nailed the uplifting/fun macabre feel. This is what I had in mind when I posted the photo - well done for (coffin) nailing it.

There were a few "proper" songs in this month, especially Lurks' entry. That was a cracker.

Continuing with the proper song theme, I loved MoonbaseAlpha's take on the pic with Slow Burning Joke - nicely interpreted!

Another great month!

Oh Man , that was a difficult choice , after scoring them initially out of 10 , the lowest was 8.5 , and that was mine ;)

It has again been a pleasure to listen to the offerings , thanks to all.

Indys track is lovely and it reminds me that its about time The Boy pulled his finger out :P ,

Oooooh indeed..... Indys track is a cracker for sure. It got my vote. I've been snowed under lately. I had a few ideas each month but I never got to nail em down. Great stuff this month.

Many thanks to everyone and especially the kind words people have written. It genuinely has given me the confidence to start making more music.
Some of the pieces are top notch, I've started going through some of the pasts months entries.

I will pm a link for a picture of something today, no idea what it will be at the moment!

Again Cheers

Thank you The Boy! I've written a few but never had the balls to showcase them, I'm not a very good musician i just try and convey what's in my head, going to start a twitter I think to link them. I'm finding it harder to choose a picture then it was to write the song at the moment! Got it down to two I think!

Indy I'm so pleased to read your responses - you must start believing in your talent. OK, I'll agree, the playing isn't the best we've heard on here but the song and performance are wonderful. I worked with some pretty big names in a record co a few years ago and would have been very happy to have had this come in as a demo back then. Keep up the good work, perhaps look at getting some friends to help out with the playing to move your writing on to the next stage.
