Hi Paulo

An Envelope filter comprises of two sections. The envelope detector ( which receives your signal dynamics) ,and the filter section. The loop on the GR2 places any effects put in it inbetween these two sections,so that effects commonly used with filter (octave/fuzz) do not trigger the envelope detector thus causing the filter to open from your effect, rather than the dynamics of your playing.

Take a cable from the effects send to the input of the first  pedal then another cable from the last pedals output to the return.

If you want to use the effects in the loop without the filter, make sure the GR2 is set to buffered bypass via the internal trimpot. I use a very similar setup, a nice trick will be to put your Cali 76/T16 and whatever drive in the loop,as the comp will work as it should when playing normally, however it won't limit the dynamics when using the filter. It sounds huge with the T16 very synthy,My board is a bit further up this thread if you'd like a look and I have the bulk of my pedals in the wonderlove loop.

How are you using the Q strip (as an additional EQ/DI?) As your EBS has  really nice loop built in,which means you can put your fx into it and helps with signal purity. If you put it at the front of your chain, you'd be able to use it as a pre amp and an A/B switcher (although I realise the boss pedalboard has a built in fx loop for that purpose, and you won't be able to use the A/B facility)

I'd move the HOF to after the GR2 too 😁

Hi Lee' firstly thankyou for your reply most informative & very interesting as to how to utilise  &   get another performance out of these pedals.                   The Q Strip is additional E Q  & is a very accurate one also' I use the H P F & the  L P F  on the unit when I'm playing through my smaller combo's  a SWR Spellbinder Blue or'  a SWR Basic Black  to filter out those lower frequencies when using the Octave  especially'.                                             The  HOF I use infrequently mainly with a fretless  & the tone prints in the  Chorus... which work well together.                                                                           I shall experiment with your suggestions & maybe even reconfigure the board ' Thanks again for your input  most kind'

Paulo.

Should Not Go Shopping, Should Not Go Shopping...

A bit of remodeling after the new purchase. New wooden triangles with a socket mounted under as the Ciocks, which you can't see, won't power the B3n.

The clock is fine as is, but the footswitch for the GK amp needs some support. The lid is a bit stiff to get on as well, but that's only for transport anyway.

This is inspirational! Been wondering how to organise my board, which is chaos right now. Building a frame something like this would hide the cable spaghetti and create subtle user friendly angles.

Thank you!

That lasted 30 hours before it got tweaked! A very subtle difference, the top plate has been pushed up a bit to allow the Zoom to go up and to the right a bit.

If, as @stewblack has intimated, anyone else is considering the same sort of thing for their boards I wouldn't mount the power/jack panel at an angle again. It looks cool but means that the top isn't as deep as it could be. If you don't have a case, or a deeper case, then it may not be an issue for you. Equally, if you have multiple Boss format boxes rather than a huge multi-fx then the top space is less of an issue.

I used a pedal board inside one of those wide pedal board case for my front row pedals the back row which are always on are down in the case itself. So not identical but inspired by your design. I have a minor issue insomuch as the top won't close any more but not difficult to fashion some extensions to the sides of the lid. Finally my board is coming together.

I plan on creating a fun one with those mini pedals just for scheiße und giggles, but the main event is pretty much there

Oh you swine! I'm thinking about how I can do mine again to have an always on layer. I don't think I can, it's only the compressor, unless I dump the tuner.

Thinks.... Remove the tuner, put the PSU on top of the 3U Plate and put it below the two 1U plates. It may look a bit odd though.

🤔

Glad you followed my advice on 'how to organise a pedal board'.

🙂

No no, this 'MK 1' is all my own work. Obviously looks a lot tidier now. 'MK 2' recently completed its trials, and only one small modification awaits before 'MK 3' can be unleashed.

Watch these spaces..

... one of the tricks is using 3M dual lock and Evidence Audio SiS patch cables. This combo means at least the patch cables can be routed easily underneath the pedals due to the height the dual lock gives, and the short throw of the cable leaving the jack plug head 🤓

... much easier to get a clean install with single rail boards, but better use of pedal board real estate with double railed designs 👍🏼

Wow lovely board Jim!! Some nice choices. It's so bloody tidy underneath! Mine looks like a rat nest 😂

Where did you get the power extension for the Cioks? I need one for mine 😁

... this is my second Classic JR board. Love the relatively compact nature of the board, and with the HX Stomp it should be pretty versatile hopefully.

Hey @Stub Mandrel, I think this is the final board...

IMG_20200822_181225.thumb.jpg.9ad39220457e8572154a03d6fb2b1018.jpg

Hope it's tidy enough now! The pedals along the top in landscape orientation are always on and controlled by the TPM.

Not pictured my HB multi fx which sits in the effects loop of my HF amp. At present I plan to sit it on top of the amp rack, but seems a shame not to have its expression pedal handy (footy?).

The brilliant design of the Trace has a switchable HPF on the effect loop. Also input level control on the back and effects loop output control on the front.

So not only is the Trace fed only upper mids and top (from a crossover) but the guitar effects can be blended and set to only affect the top end of the top end.

Endless hours of fettling with this lot. Every sound imaginable from utterly dreadful to really quite nice.

Some remodelling has gone on with my board. The gaps between the 3 planks didn't really hold the pedals well so I added a fourth plank. I also trimmed 6" off the width when I realised I don't really  need the LMB-3 and the ACP-1 together. I also made it a two tier board to make it easier to access the top pedals with my size 8s. Still need to work out the nest way to fix the S8 underneath.

Luvin the super compact board 👍🏼

I know what some of the pedals do, what’s the signal chain please?

I have contemplated a Metro before but my OCD wouldn’t allow me to have any pedals on their side 😊

Not the neatest, not the flashiest, but I think I'm about done for now... I've gone from a huge board, through dozens of iterations, and this is where I am, for what I need...

Well... for now 🤣

Path: Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter > Boss TU-2 Tuner > TC Electronic Nether Octaver > K.I.T. BB Clone Drive > TC Electronic Corona Chorus > TC Electronic Flashback Delay (always on) > MXR M81 Preamp 9always on)
