That was just gorgeous - what an extraordinarily talented lady (& band).

Do me a favour will ye? When she announces her 2017 tour dates, give us a heads-up?

Any recommendations for beginner bagpipes?

Find a tutor and be guided by them.

For a playable set of Delrin (plastic) pipe expect to pay several hundred pounds, more for wood. Avoid buying cheap pipe via ebay or on-line, you'll get what you pay for which is not very much in terms of a playable instrument. To quote a piping friend of mine "They look nice on the wall".

It's a close call - border pipes, Uillean pipes,

I feel so fortunate to be living at a time when there are so many talented young musicians on the folk music scene, producing such marvellous music.

I occasionally get to play with this lass, who is fantastic on Northumbrian and Uillean pipes as well as various other instruments. .

My brother knows a piper who hadn't played for many a year . On picking up the pipes again he discovered that he didn't have the puff any more to play so he went to see his doctor to get his breathing checked . It turned out that he was fine and the problem was a leak in the bag part of the pipes !
