Basschat Noodle Bar - JUNE

Here we are then, people – my offering for the month:

Compound Noodle in Ab Dorian (Or June Noodle – if you prefer)

No, I’m not that clever – all four stings had been detuned a semitone to play along with an Yngwie Malmsteem track.

This just popped into existence as an attempt to play triplets evenly - but I thought it made a nice noodle all the same.

Played on my Cort Curbow 4:1 with new generic light gauge rounds (just a few quid from Amazon)

Straight into PC & Audacity

You want entries..? You got entries...

June Noodle-bug ...

... and it serves you right.

(No-one knows the difficulties involved in such simple things such as taking a ruddy photo per month, or playing just one minute (one lousy minute..!) of bass, let alone coming up with a whole new Composition..! No wonder I'm extenuated..! Still, it's worth it..! :D :P )

Just an aside...

I suppose I should be flattered (any port in a storm..? ), but I find it at once odd, funny and sad that, whatever I post on Soundcloud, I get an almost immediate set of 'Likes' from perfect strangers, and usually a new 'Follower' or two, often with a winsome smile and scant clothing. Is there something in my fingering that attracts such youngsters (they're rarely.. no, never... much more than teenage...)..? I doubt that it be my associated photo (which is often the Compo Challenge picture anyway...), and seems to be the reaction whatever 'style' (or lack of...) that the piece is purporting to be in. At this rate, I'll be world-famous in short order..! I'm not alluding to my regular BC following, of course; the scant clothing should have made that obvious.

Well, now I'm disappointed - I thought it was just me getting all the attention from these young ladies ;)

I played in a band with some mates when I was about 13 and we had a guitarist who when tuning up would get bored half way though and just say "ah well it's close enough for jazz" ...

Inspired by this little conversation, I present my own offering: https://soundcloud.com/white_elephant/close-enough-for-jazz-basschat-noodle-bar-june16

Fretless Fender Jazz straight into the mixer and then into Audacity with a little compression.

Really enjoyed this for two reasons its almost like a 70s cop show theme and for some reason like dads entry I enjoyed listen to the string noise, it makes it seem so much more human to me.

I could really see this working in a song. And it reminds me of something and that normally is a good sign.
It also has a rawness to it I like.
Very good!

Well done you guys!

I'm sadly set to fail again this month. Stupidly busy here at work... managing fallout from the ongoing EU turdstorm... so I've literally had no time for music. Normal service will hopefully resume next month.

I'll launch the voting thread tomorrow morning in the General Discussion forum.

Cheers :drinks:
