Deployable string mute?

Hi everyone,
I am looking for a string mute for my jazz bass which can be deployed easily, rather than the traditional "shove some foam" method as I need it to be deployable rather quickly for that great thud sound.
I see that on the Fender Custom Shop Sean Hurley signature:
http://www.fendercustomshop.com//series/artist/sean-hurley-signature-1961-precision-bass-rosewood-fingerboard-faded-3-color-sunburst/
there is a little metal plate that deploys the mute.
Does anyone know whether these can be purchased separately and how easy/hard they are to install.
many thanks, Tom

The Hurley mute unit is very similar to the '6 Jaguar mute which is available as a separate kit - http://darrenriley.c...aguar-mute-kit/

This thread has more detail on installing the Jaguar mute (scroll down to pics) - https://www.talkbass.com/threads/installing-a-jaguar-mute-on-a-p-bass.1021488/

There's also this: http://www.bassmute.com/bassmute/bm_mainframe.html

The advantages of this over the Fender mute is that you can fine-tune the mute pressure per-string, and also you don't have to drill any holes as you can mount it with double sided tape.

That looks pretty cool. I've just ordered one, should be here before Christmas. :-)

Try Fretwraps. Very, very easy to adjust the amount of mute and just push it over the nut when you don't need it. Leaves plenty of room to fret at the first.

That wouldn't mute anything you fret though would it?

I had a bassmute and it was brilliant. Can't use one now as no room between my bridge and pickup.
