If you didn’t live a 4 day walk from me I’d have lent you mine for a week to try out 😂🤣 saying that you could buy my Mesa eight 88

At 30Kg its far heavier than my Mesa Mpulse600 and rack at 24Kg

The HB WB-100 comes in at either 13Kg or 16Kg will need to double check which it is but still a lot lighter than my current rack.

I dont want to go back to old valve amps which can develop unexpected age related issues.

It’s actually 22.2kg  but the Handbox is much lighter of course 😄

I would like to try one but i'm trying to go a bit lighter. I'm not getting any younger and i do love my Mesa gear.

Didn’t know you were thinking of selling that one. How does it compare to the Handbox?

I had a chat with Leszek about all and sundry for the first time in a while today, and asked him what the crack was re: production.

'For those who are waiting for my amplifiers, I ask for just a little bit of patience. Completely new amplifiers are being created from the electronic side, which is why the wait is so long.'

He sent me a couple of teaser pics, too:

HB lost a few electronics engineers thru Covid. I'm not sure if that was down to them finding other jobs or worse case not making it thru. It could well be they had to find a new electronics supplier if it was out-sourced. I dont know the full set up how they work.

Having a pre-amo with a more traditional EQ set up ie B, M, T makes it easier for most people to understand.

Perhaps the changes were down to available electronics parts.

Natural progression ?

I'm just throwing in suggestions and have no real idea why the changes have been made.

Possibly changing the source of electronics - I don't know where all the shiny gubbins come from, but there was bound to be upheaval due to supply chain problems.

Maybe they make toast this time!

Maybe they'll release a WB-100 X, then the WB-100 Ultra, then.... ;)

Oh no, does this mean in 30 years there’s going to be endless forum arguments about the quality of tone from 2 knob and 3 Knob eq’s…

I refer the honourable gentleman to the Stingray threads…

The EQ comment i made was only my own opinions on why they might have made the change from B, T and Contour to B, M, T.

For me its a bit different from the Stingray thing where its basically B, T or B, M, T with no contour control involved.

Is the contour not a Mid control in effect as it cuts the mid frequencies and in some cases boosts Bass and treble a touch. ? Not sure on that to be honest and its all just me firing out my own thoughts.

It is basically a hi-mid cut from what I can tell - at least, that is how I use it...

Leszek posted an update on Facebook yesterday..

"We would like to inform everyone who is waiting for the tube heads for the WB-100 bass that work on the latest, modernized series is just coming to an end. Although it has taken a long time, however we want and hope that the fruit of our efforts will be an amplifier close to perfection".

LOVE those cases...
