1000W not enough then ?
I wouldn't be using it bridged at 8 ohms. 500W at 4 ohms is an absolute minimum for me and my current Yamaha power amp is more than that anyway, hence why I'd like a marginal amount of more power for headroom if it's an upgrade, if you see my point.

Fab!

As it happens, the postman has just been here too. And left me one of these...

What a beast... I'll use it on Saturday night.

So you didn't end up going with the R400 after all? Or is this not "your" amp?

I like the look without the somewhat clunky case a lot better in any event.

No - I don't need this much power. The R-400 is more than enough for me. :-)

Leszek sent me the Red Fighter just to try out, and offer to others to try.

Cool, I like the feature set on that one a lot more, especially the EQ scheme. That front end with just one power section would be very appealing, I think.

Loving the look of these, the simplicity reminds me of the little bastard. Don't suppose anyone around London has one and willing to let me try it out do they...?
Gary Mac has one (see other HandBox thread). I believe he's west of the big city, but I don't know if that's anywhere near you...?

As WOT said, I have the 400 model. You are welcome to pay me a visit for a try out at lowish volume (unless my neighbours are out, in which case we can give it a blast). I'm in Hertfordshire.

Message me if you want to make arrangements.

Sorry if I've missed this further up the thread, but how much do these retail for? I might be interested in trying this out at some point if that's ok. Do you know what frequencies the two switchable mid controls are set at?

I'm not sure about the exact frequencies - this chart should give an idea:

There's no harm dropping Leszek an email if you want more specifics - he's been very helpful with his responses to me.

As for price, I think 700EUR, but I guess that might change depending on your choice of case, etc.

And you're welcome to borrow it when you're up here next. :-)

I should probably change my location, I'm permanently in Newcastle now. To be honest, if it's got two switchable mid controls I'm sure I'll be able to get a tone that I'm happy with. I'll PM you about borrowing it for a trial!

Oh, and I took the R-400 to a jam night in Newcastle last night.

BC's very own Bass Doc used it on a few tunes, and he was impressed. I got a chance to hear it out front, at a decent whack, through a vintage Fender 2x15 and it was marvellous...

He wasn't but all seems well now. And he's playing like a demon :-)
Good to hear he's better. I'm hoping to make a visit to the old homeland in October - still can't get stottie cakes down here! :(

Sorry to derail your thread!

I will be taking custody of the r-400 this evening, i'll only get a chance to give it a proper run out on Sunday morning at church but that should give me enough to decide if I'm going to order one.

I'm pretty excited to have a go at running valves again and i'll report back with my thoughts.

Matt

I made a couple of clips with the Red Fighter this morning.

I know, it's the same track over and over again, but it's the only thing I know how to play.... :-)

Sounds gert lush with the flats on, and IMHO the best way to show an amp or instrument with different strings or settings, no pointless noodling, thanks for that, i do enjoy your demo's. :)

Just wish it was 4ohm in bridge mode for my tastes. :(

Cheers, Raggy!

I actually get quite a few sarky comments from people via YouTube about the playing being boring, etc. But like you, I like to hear stuff in situ, so I'm sticking to my guns :-)
Good on ya :)
