That's the one, but I'm not on face book! It must have leaked out into the ether now.

Does anybody buy a t bird to play up the dusty end? Same with a Hofner.

I'd love to see Mark King on a violin bass.

Matchsticks comes to mind.

the aim is to release it after tweeks at combustion level pricing!

Yup... I'll have to have one then!

Lol - I had nearly said in my earlier post that this looked distinctly like something you'd had a hand in - I had gone along the line of logic, who would fancy an SR5 made to look like something you'd view in a Blackpool pleasure park mirror - I thought hmmm Grand Wazoo - but then I thought the colour choice would simply not be right.

but then I thought no - it's 1st March not 1st April - wrong month.

I'd like to see a Bongo!

It looks nice - and yeah, some bits will change after feedback from the show and fans etc.
Sure -terrible access to top frets -but it wouldn't be a proper take if you could noodle up to 24 with ease.

If it does get the combustion pricing it well sell like hotcakes.

Ime people who play thunder birds or SG basses are the least likely to embrace wonky wires, I know there will be some but not enough for a mass market approach, I suppose they are not a mass maker though.

The non issue that the fanned frets 'solve' is way down on the list of reasons I don't enjoy playing Gibson basses, lol.

Tell you what, if they do build this in China and sell at combustion prices, and tweak the design a little, this will be a huge hit for them. Look forward to checking it out at LBGS!

That looks interesting, but IMO the headstock shape lets it down. Gibson aside, I think Spector nailed the two-a-side design on the Forte model.

And yes, make it in China and sell it at a competitive price!

Me, I like the headstock - the 2+2 will reduce the neckdiving, the shape is still enough of a homage to the original and the turquoise detailing behind the D logo is sweet!

Id certainly be interested in trying a D-Bird. Also enjoyed the recent Sandberg Forty Eight. Nice take on a T Bird

The 48 looks great, if I was after a "rock" bass that's where I would start

D-bird lands and apparently although only a prototype at the moment the aim is to release it after tweeks at combustion level pricing!

Cripes that's absolutely bizarre - I wonder if they'll have a go at fan fret other famous basses ......... How about a danelectro donghorn - preferably with a Masonite body.

Or even a Daisy Dock bass in pink.

What I'm waiting for is the Dinginbacker!

On a serious note I think the pickguards what Dingwall are prototyping are too close to both the MM Ray5 and the Gibson Tbird.
Not illegal as I understand it - but not ethical to go that close to pretty distinctive designs of manufacturers - IMO of course!

Pray do tell how Dingwall have defeated the force of gravity :)

I would imagine the fact that 2+2 headstock reducing the length of the neck would see a slight improvement in neck dive. I suppose the fanned frets and longer scale length may negate that though.
There are many other factors that would have an effect, of course

Seven posts and nobody has yet referred to it as a Dingray, so allow me. :)

Maybe they should have done a Sterl-Ding instead!
