So here's my entry - https://soundcloud.c...s/looking-ahead

From the picture I've taken the idea of a man who breezes through life doing whatever he likes regardless the consequences and then finally turning round to see the devastation left in his wake. If I'm honest its a bit of a rush job - I just got over the flu and I've got a busy week next week so I had to rush it out.
It's by far the entry I am least satisfied with - I had to write and record all the vocals tonight. Some day I'll find some time to finish the song properly.

Some excellent entries already, by the way!

ok, so i have curled one out, rolled it in glitter, shoved a sparkler in it and called it a tune. its not very good and its very simplistic. i wish i could have done something better but there you go, it doesnt always work. however i felt like it was worth dumping something in even it only serves to make everyone else's look better. i was sat watching footage of tornado's trying to find some inspiration but it always seemed a little dark. whilst they are amazing and beautiful things its almost always costs people their homes and sometimes their lives, which just made me rather miserable. so i just ran with that and attempted to make something pretty but miserable, and so here we are.

perhaps next month i can do something a bit more lively for a change, my entries thus far have been more than a little steady.

Hello,

I nearly wasn't going to bother this month, but after reading certain comments regarding techno beats I decided to take up a musical challenge :D ... mostly because modern dance music really isn't my forte, I'm more into the classic electronic music styles like Tangerine Dream etc.... so there you go.

I have tried to capture the power of thunderstorms, nature, tornadoes and storm chasing all wrapped up in a edm style with a Native American influence.(?!)

Does it work?.... who knows, but I had a lot of fun with this one :D

I shall present you with my track "ThunderHead" :

Really good work folks! I had a quick listen to snippets of each over the weekend.

I've started something which I'm hoping to finish in time. Hard to describe, but I'm sort of seeing the picture in 'slow motion' - the way dramatic events are sometimes slowed down in movies, creating a sort of serene depiction of something that is oppositely chaotic. If that makes any sense?

It's going to be a rush job, whatever the outcome.

As long as it's something funky with maybe even a bit of walking bass.

I've got a job interview this week and vowed I wouldn't faff anymore with my entry but I gave it another listen this morning and was mortally embarrassed by the vocals. I haven't got time to rerecord but I've remixed them and have smothered them in effects in a desperate and vain attempt to cover up their obvious deficiencies.

I do that a lot!
I find it works better with minimal melody, possibly sticking with more rhythmic and more tuneless vox - dare I say dialect rap?
I also discovered that a further coat of glitter can be added by double tracking (or double recording) the vox with slightly different levels of delay and other fx on each.
You can see how well all that works by my tasteful offering this month!
:P :gas:

That's not a million miles away from what I do. I've use a vst that splits the vox and minutely delays and detunes the copied vox to thicken the sound. It also pans the 2 tracks slightly left and right.

If you were to hear one of my vocal tracks without effects it would be enough to put you off listening to music for life!

Phew. Done.

Very hastily put together. And I'm currently deaf in one ear due to a bad cold, so goodness knows how it actually sounds

Moody, dubstep-ish electronica. Trying to depict the events as they unfold in slow motion, Something like that.

I'll post up the voting thread once the clock strikes midnight...
