One if these up the road from me for sale and always been 'EST curious'....I had a Vintage Jazz and it was very, very good indeed.

So, what are these Pingray clones like? I had a Stingay 3EQH so just wonderin'...

Gianni makes this 5 banger sing OK and this vid' is educational too....activo, frequenca basso, frequenca media.... ;) but I think Gianni could make anything sound like an angel.

I had one for a whole and as stock it is OK. The pickups are quite hot and I found winding them right down achieved the best tones. I replaced preamp with a retrovibe stinger (2 band stingray pre-amp clone) which basically made it sound like a stingray when wired in parallel! Sold it on as fell out with 5 strings but it was a decent bass.

I have had mine for just over a year now and tbh I am really happy and impressed by it (considering its a copy model and relatively cheap)

Mine has been gigged fairly over the past year and I have never had any problems with it, it holds its tuning very well throughout a 4 hour gig in a crowded pub and after being knocked around.

Mine however did need to be set up when i first got it, the string heights was all over the place.

The stock compoents are great for what they are but i am 100% positive that if you were to upgrade all the components you would have a fantastic sounding bass. I will eventually replace the pickup and pre amp.

This is currently my main giging bass but once I get my Dingwall NG2 i will happily keep it as a live back up.

Thanks guy, I bought the bass and have to say the fit and finish is very, very good indeed, even under the pickguard with surprisingly nice tidy wiring, soldering and routing.

New set of strings, truss rod and nut setup and she sings, great neck good 'n shallow.

She will having the pup to parallel this week and I'll chime back later. The one critisism being a slight lack of top end fizz.....acres of bottom though!

I have one of the earlier versions of these (with just the black Vintage decal on the headstock).

It was formerly a 'jam night' bass and as such has a few battle scars but it plays beautifully. What I did change was the preamp, as the original was pretty poor with the treble pot doing next to nothing.

I bought a Zolkow 3 band preamp off here for £25 and got a pal to fit it. I now have one pot as a coil tap, volume, a stacked bass/treble and a mid. It really does give the bass some real power and it certainly holds up against my 3 band Stingrays.
