Hi All,

Up for sale is my transition period dot and bound 1966 Fender Jazz Bass with its OHSC.

It is all original bar a recent professional refret / new nut by Gruhn Guitars in Nashville.

It has signs of play wear, mainly on the body rear with buckle rash and also cord marks.

Weighs in at 8.9lbs and plays wonderfully well with a low action all the way up the neck.

Trades for vintage Fender considered.

Cheers, Si

Uh oh... Neck DOB May 2 1966. My DOB May 3 1966.

Can't get much closer to a DOB bass than that! Gorgeous... :gas:

Don't fret, it's actually a 7 not a 2 . 7 being the model number for a Jazz Bass, not the day date.

All any of us could know for sure is the neck was made in May 66.

Could have been the 3rd!

You learn something every day - I always thought that first number was the date - didn't realise it was a model number.

Do you know the model number for the Precision bass by chance ?

Yes indeed, from 1962-1968:

5 for precision, 7 for Jazz, 6 for Bass VI, 11 Bass V, 17 Mustang Bass, 18 Coronado bass and 23 Telecaster bass.

Until 1969 when it all changes!

Anyway, to get back onto the topic at hand, let's not forget about this lovely 66 Jazz for sale!

Had a quick blast on this today while picking up another of Si's basses. It's an amazing bass, a real player as well as being in amazing condition. Whoever buys this won't be disappointed!
