Gibson, Marshall and a F****** awesome band!

They were the first big league band I ever went to see; Folkestone Lees Cliffe Hall, 1970 IIRC. I would have been 16 or 17. Still one of the best gigs I ever attended.

Pual Kossoff was one of my early guitar heroes, and the solo to 'Alright Now' was one of the first I ever learned (extended album version, natch...), along with Albatross as I recall.

Great band.

A few years ago, my band was gigging at a small but cool hotel/pub/venue up Perth way. I got chatting to a hotel resident in the bar afterwards who'd been to the gig, and asked him how long he was staying for. He said was a musician, and he was playing at the venue the following night.

I looked over his shoulder and saw his face on a poster advertising the following night's artist... Simon Kirke.

Once I'd recovered, we had a lovely chat. Nice bloke.
