When times get tough for professional bass players...

So I was up early the other morning with the little one, and happened to come across the following cameo from Stuart Zender:

Great to see that BBC are doing the decent thing and educating young children about the joys of slap bass ;)

Seriously though, how do those sorts of things happen? Did Mr Zender respond to a "seeking professional musicians" ad somewhere, or was somebody who works on the show a massive fan of Jamiroquai/Stuart Zender/slap bass and used his industry contacts to make things happen?

Tony Bennett on the Muppet's, anyone on Loose Women and most actors, stand ups and musicians many times in their lives. . . . you do what you have to do to earn a crust.

PS Just remembered Mike Batt was lead Womble. . . . . . . you can't live on fresh air.

Mike Batt's house apparently is quite something. Surrey somewhere and the legend is he owns all the land he can see from it in every direction!

I'd view it as an honour. Look at some of the othe top class musicians who have been guests on the show

Oh I know - as I've watched more and more of them, it's quite impressive the musicians that they have lined up. Just a shame they're mixed in with those highly annoying animatronic puppets!

Damn that Banana song is catchy!

I'm pretty sure it's going to be my headsong for at least the rest of today.

At least it's shunted out 'Entrance of the Gladiators' which I've been afflicted with all weekend.

There was a lady playing Chinese wire xylophone thing, I find it quite educational. My little one loves it; half of The Darkness were on a while back

The list of Muppet/Seasame Street appearances is legendary[/quote]

As it happens, Cleo Laine has been a guest on both the Muppets and Zingzillas (with her husband John Dankworth in his last TV appearance before he died in 2010).

I watch it with my little one and am always amazed at the quality of musos they have on.... Nicola Benedetti, Simon Mayor, Julian Lloyd Webber, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Michael , BJ Cole, Gossip (!) (twice!!)... To name but a few. Hardly a bunch of artists on their uppers!

These kids shows aren't nearly as cheesy as the crap films Elvis made. I'd rather be a Womble than in Viva Las Vegas.

I forget which program Bob Kerr's Whoopee Band did, but Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated was the house band on the 5 O'Clock Club, a kids TV show in the 60's,

Strange stuff happens. Just gotta make it work.
