last time i saw him, he wanted to sell the bass for 500 euros (GBP 340 )...
the thumbrest above the strings is exactly the same in wood and age than the other one.. it could be an add done closely to the first buy...
the bass is in very good condition. Wood is very clean and there is no scratch or belt damage. i like the color, which is a bit better than mine.
the big mudbucker don't move (i guess that screws are used), same thing for the bridge pu (if you put back the original one, all its okay)
if you want more details, let me know : as my friend is in hollidays, i have the bass at home for a week !

if i compare with my "new" 4001 (1978), ibanez one is slightly heavier than a real rick...but playability is the same.

Rick copies seem a bit thin on the ground atm - this is the best I can do:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...p;rd=1&rd=1

Recent highly unconvincing Trashenbacker, this is an "Indie" with a different (worse) TRC. Any similarities between this & a real Rick or a good copy are just the result of flattering lighting.

If it goes for sub £200 then fine, but the worrying thing is that the £500 that the guy reckons it is new, is actually correct.

I've played one, and they're horrid.

I refer my learned friend to the existing DC Montana thread:

http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3046

And do a Google image search for "Warwick Fortress One Flashback" and find out what the DC Montana 77 (RRP £1299 - :)) really owes its unique design inspiration to.

Still - it proves one thing - Warwick did once, and once only, make a good-looking bass.

I can't recall seeing a fretless 4003 before, I wonder how much this will go for.

And now another Horrid Hondo:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Very-Rare-Vintage-Ho...1QQcmdZViewItem

A snip at £275 BiN with no covers or knobs. Oh yes, and buyer to pay £50 by PayPal and the balance to be cash on collection.

Seller thinks the bridge is missing. Granted it looks odd, but maybe it's supposed to be like that?

Look - there goes a Giannini, all pikeyed up for FleaBay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...p;rd=1&rd=1

Look familiar? It should do - it was sold by our very own Psychoandy, to our very own Vmaxblues, who Ebayed it to the above gentleman a few weeks back, for £250.

Wish I'd bought it meself now. It deserves better! :)

Up to a point - if the Rick Police see it, it'll still go, because it's a copy of a copyright design. Putting a fake nameplate on it brands him a total w@nker, in my unprejudiced opinion.

That is a bit sad, fitting a fake nameplate. :) Who are these sorts of people trying to kid?
Jap crap should be worn with pride!
Is it really superior to Ibanez, & Kasuga? Come on (?!)

It's a more accurate copy. Wouldn't fool anyone who knew real Ricks for one minute though. None of them would.

For once, yes it is! July 1976, model 2389B. These are strangely much less common than the 2388s with the Gibson-style mudbuckers & sparkly inlays.

Item no. 250151272477 :)

Not sure how it works, I think but this is the same one (knobs missing, bit of an old screwdriver for a "bridge") that was on a few weeks back and got pulled. Pretty sure it's a different seller.

Here's what looks like a bolt-neck, mono output Matsumoku (with wavy Grover copies & toaster), looks in very nice nick as far as one can tell, and is listed in such a way as to be completely missed by anyone searching specifically for Rick copies:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...bayphotohosting

Item no. 160145049318

Don't know what the reserve is but I've asked. Apparently the guy has a Rick TRC he'll include with it at extra cost!

*Update* Reserve is a very fair £100! Worth a punt if anyone's interested. :)

A nice neck-through Maya:

Item no. 180146974326

I think it's these that are more usually seen badged as Shaftesbury.

In his answer to the bolt on question he says he not up on things like that, but his description of the bass is pretty good including truss rod info, just thought it was strange.
