It got many 5 star reviews but didn't sell many copies. It's an epic album and a real lesson in how to write a song. Albums that are widely considered to be stinkers but which aren't that bad or actually are quite good makes them an unappreciated album. From the ones that I recommended, I'd say that Wings at the Speed of Sound is the one that's widely considered to be a stinker, but I disagree. I think it's full of great songs. I listened to Ghosts of Princes in the Tower (as an example) and I wasn't overwhelmed, but music appreciation is highly subjective, and I wouldn't want to go around insisting that my view is the only correct one. Our band supported them in venues as diverse as the Marquee, Edwards No. 8 in Birmingham and Gloucester Town Hall! In fact Jimbob broke his arm at one of our more scary parties... By contrast, the Praxis album "Transmutation Transmutandis" featuring Buckethead, Bootsy, Bill Laswell, Bernie Worrell and Brain was critically very well received (being a pretty darned cracking album!) and sold very few copies indeed - in fact it's no longer made... [/quote] I agree, I've been listening to it again the last couple of weeks and I really like it, it definitely trails off in the second half, but the first half is a cracker. I've also come to the conclusion that I love the snare sound, it's just so raw and really suits what they were trying to do on this record. I also think it's the best kick sound Lars has ever had.
