uncle psychosis Posted August 9, 2015 Share Posted August 9, 2015 folks I have some etymotic er-20s which are great for practice and gigs etc but I'd like a second pair for wearing more discreetly - like when at work or taking the kids to soft play (my local one is like an echo chamber). It's very obvious you are wearing the er-20 and they are quite easy to knock out because of how far they protrude. I bought some Docs Pro Plugs which appealed because they were transparent, low profile, and didn't need to be inserted into the ear canal (which is uncomfy after a while). Unfortunately they don't fit me properly and so they don't work. Anyone have any recommendations for more discreet plugs? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Beer of the Bass Posted August 9, 2015 Share Posted August 9, 2015 3M Clear Ears are less visible than ER20s as the stem is shorter and they don't have the plastic part. At first I felt like I couldn't get a proper fit/they didn't do much in the way of noise reduction but I actually find them super comfy and I never have ringing in my ears after a rehearsal so they're doing the job for me. I use them pretty much constantly and especially in social situations where I don't want to listen that closely to the vapid ramblings of those present. You know what people are like... these plugs are good for general use. They have short stalks too, so don't make you look like an alien. Or a twunt. Or a twunt/alien. Similar to chewing gum but not as sticky These are the type of thing, you can get them in boots or any chemist I would think. A bit fiddly to get in and out until you got the knack but I found them more comfy than Doc's Pro Plugs or Etymotic plugs and just as effective.
