Just been offered one of these for abut £70. Anyone know anything about them?

Needs a good clean and a fairly major setup, just wondered if anyone knew anything about them.

Other than that it's a JPJ-3, not much tbh, £70 sounds fair.

There's a pic of one in the 1986 catalogue here (it's split across two pages):—

No sign of it in the 1991 catalogue, so length of production is unknown but I suspect that it's 1986-1990.

I reconstructed the wiring diagram from photos of one that turned up on Talkbass a couple of years ago:—

So i'd totally pick it up for 75 quid , i have owned a few of the late 80's early 90's aria's mainly CAT's with the odd SB or TSB and while the body construction is usually a bit artificial , on the lower end model's such as the CAT . The play-ability , quality of tone from the pickups and feel on there necks are usually wonderfu.

l i'd be happy to just grab it for the hilarious double P J configuration .

It's ludicrous. got a LOT of gigs coming up with the metal band, so that's what drew me to it. it'd look brilliant on stage. I'd have to hear it first though, might give it a once over.

Used by Guy Nsangue in all Jean Luc Ponty albums he featured on.

Just listened to Tkochola and you'll get the idea of how it sounds.

[quote name='Bassassin' timestamp='1435161052' post='2806101']I'd be inclined to think it's from the early years of Korean production rather than MIJ but the MIKs were decent enough.

I'd agree totally if it wasn't for the fact that the Talkbass example had 'Made In Japan' stamped into the neckplate.
