MUSICMAN PORN THREAD

budget bassist

Recommended Posts

I haven´t played this one for years as i became a Precision Bass addict, but i just put some Thomastik flats on it to get rid of some of the strong active highs, and now really begin to like it again.

I think it´s a 1977, and it definitley is greenish faded inca silver. :)

I don´t even have a pic of the whole bass, which reminds me i need to make some pics of all of my basses.

Haven't decided if I like the white yet.......

That looks classy if you ask me. I love the white pickup cover on stingrays, it gives it a bit of a custom vintage look. I think tort would work on that blue with the white pickup but then again I love clashing colours on basses.

This is seriously not helping my Stingray GAS, I think the Lakland is going up soon, I cant resist.

Here s my restoration in progress of my old 77 Ray. Will do a complete Feed when it's done! It started life as a walnut brown bass and then was painted light blue and then the red when I got it. All the hardware is Gold witch is very unusual for an old Ray. Chaps on the MM forum can't decide if it's factory or done afterwards. Either way it's an old plating finish.. I traded a 1989 Ray for it. Soon found out why they traded it as the neck had a bad bow And the truss rod bullet had split the nut and the wood at the first feet. It's all fixed but was caused by over tightening the truss rod I think..
Was going to put it back to walnut but went walnut stain and a gloss finish. Will look good with the gold hardware! Getting there!!..!
Thanks for looking.

One more for the Sabre's.

I bought it this week, to correct a mistake I made years ago when I sold my 78 Sabre. Every time I hear old recordings of that bass it cuts deep, so I finally replaced it. Should have done this YEARS ago. I've had to let go of two stunning basses to do this, but I'm over the moon still and it's just as good as I remembered and some.

My old Sabre was walnut brown and I always thought I'd only go for one of those. I couldn't find one in that colour but this one is so clean and gorgeous that I'm surprisingly not fussed at all.

And as a bonus, I got the original case too :)

Happy, happy days.

Can't stop looking at this thread...i ordered a Sterling USA 4HH black cw matching headstock & RW board yesterday...(at a very good proce considering what's happened to the exchange rate),,,and I was quoted a SIX MONTH wait - perhaps to discourage me from placing the order?
It's going to be such a long painful wait........I need a time machine

going to feel like the longest 6 months of my life - 3months was bad enough for my 1st barefaced

Well, here's my new baby! 2010 Ernie Ball 2band Stingray. Bought off of this forums very own SiFi!

I'm upgrading the pre amp in it to an East 3 band 3 knob and eventually I want to get a Hipshot de tuner for it. A friend gave me the chrome plated brass pick guard for it which I absolutely love and I've done the series/parallel switch mod to the pick up. Scary process but I love it. Easily my favourite bass at the moment. Strung with 125-60 Rotosound Swing Bass and tuned B E A D as I prefer having a low B over a high G.

Hopefully you all like her, especially StingrayPete1977 and McNash who were very helpful with some questions I had regarding Stingrays.
