Butterscotch, yes! That was my first thought. Mind you my Hayman's got the vibe, even though it's British...

That's quite Wal shaped isn't it? Or is it me? Beautiful bit of vintage bass porn - I'd be afraid to use it, it looks in such good nick.

+1 very tasteful resto. Thats a beaut of a bass!
I thank you, sir... it plays really well and sounds great with Fender flats, too. Almost like a DB. The Hayman/Shergold brands were just as good as Gibson/Fender in the 70s... it wasn't 100% necessary to buy USA back then as is generally supposed.

These basses were the genesis of what became the early Wals (as far as the shape goes), and predate them. The shape was carried over to the subsequent Shergold range of basses too, in fact Early Shergolds featured late Hayman necks.

Many congrats! I'm so jealous. I would love to be in a band that plays that sort of music. And I even have a cowboy hat in readiness :D
Thanks, Shell! I'd ask to borrow it, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't fit my massive pumpkin-like bonce. :)

Well done Mark, I'll deffo be getting along :)

I'll let you know when my debut is, Sean! *Nervous squeaky fart*

Have you still got that white 50's-style P with the split-coil pickup, Discreet?
Sadly no, but I know where it is! Can't really justify it though as my Hayman does everything the P can do and more.

Top notch Mark :) You'll need to get Cowboy Hat to venture west, there's a good Americana following around these here parts ...it is the west after all
Thanks, Rich. :) I'll ask him! I think ultimately the plan is to go to the States, but I'm not yet au fait with Hat's world domination plan... ;)

I wasn't thinking that far west to be honest, more sort of west of Bristol but east of say Falmouth :D

I too have a massive bonce, so I very rarely find a hat that fits. I got my hat from a stall in Birmingham rag market where they do hats in sizes from small to Mekon :D

So you gonna grow an impressive beard? Oh and if you do end up state-side I'll be a roady ;)
Nah... it would just look pathetic next to Hat's luxuriant growth.
I might sport some manly stubble, though. And a leather weskit. A roady? Yes, why not? :D

did you ever reclaim that P bass you were chasing?
The 76? It's available... it would be perfect, but I'm still figuring out how to get enough P-Bass tokens to make it mine again! :)
It would actually be great, as I bought that P new in 1976 and I miss it quite badly.
