Tony Jones - The Christians ?

I've always had a soft spot for the bass playing on The Christians - 'Words'

Syrupy 80's blue eyed soul, but great songwriting and the fretless tone and line is beautiful.

Can't find anything online (he's competiting for airspace with Sister Sledge bassist Tony TNT Jones
AND Christian theologist Tony Jones)

Does anyone know anything about The Christians bassist Tony Jones?

I don't know anything about Tony Jones, but the bass on that track was played by Pino Paladino, so it's not surprising that it's rather good. :)

Misdee thank you! Had no idea he'd done stuff with them. Makes sense though, another great 80's session from Pino

Saw them last year on a heritage act triple bill with Go West and Hue and Cry. They were excellent and the singer (Gary?) has still got it. You also forgot how many great songs they had. I bought a copy of the 'Colours' cd from Amazon the day after, and it got some heavy rotation at home.

Love the video! Is that Port Isaac? Looks like they walked past Doc Martin's house at one point.

Sure is Port Issac. It's near the beginning at 0.54 when they are walking down the path towards the main part of the the town. Doc's house is on their right.

Holy Thread Resurection!

Just been playing along to Harvest For The World...having a 5 year old its that time of year.

So, been listerning to their old classics, always liked them back in the day, When The Fingers Point, Hooverville, Forgotten Town but where there is some footage of the bass player from the 80's playing the original bass player is on various Fender 4 string Jazzs.

But, that glorious bass tone seems to me, a 5 string, 4 string thru an Octaver or maybe bass synth'? Whatever its bloomin' lovely

PS did they have Bass Octavers back then when it was all fields 'round here?
