Not anywhere near as many as I used to have but still:

Atlansia Solitaire 1-String Fretless
Burns Sonic Bass
Fernandes PIE-ZO Hello Kitty 2007
Gus G3 4-String Fretless
Gus G3 5-String Passive
Gus G3 5-String Active
Hartke XL-4
Kramer XKB-10
Overwater Original 5-String Fretted
Overwater Original 5-String Fretless
Sei Offset Flamboyant 5-String Fretless
Warwick Star Bass 5-String
Yamaha BJ5B

Not a single Fender or Fender-influenced bass in sight!

Surely the Burns is Fender influenced?

31, all left handed, 12 of those are DIY builds, the rest I bought.
And even with that many basses somehow I always manage to think of some kind of string amount, pickup configuration or neck and body shape/feel I haven't got yet.

Number 32 is under construction at the moment, a triple course 12 string, for the build diary click here.

Are there no single bass men out there? GAS free in their unibass world.....
Just the one Modern Player Jazz for me. It's not because I am GAS free, more cash free and space free.

Having said that, a Precision would probably do it for me.

Squier JV Precision, Fender logo.
Squier MIJ med scale Precision
Fender Jazz Bass Special, modded.
Fender Precision Lyte
Fender Precision bitsa.
Fender 'Mustangmaster' (modded Musicmaster :) )
Westone Thunder 1A version III fretted
Westone Thunder 1A version III fretless
Westone Pantera X790
Aria Pro II CSB 450 'Black N Gold'
Shergold Marathon
Hohner B2ABD
Washburn AB10 electro-acoustic
Pako U-Bass
Stagg EUB.

Which could be construed as too many. But how could I possibly choose which to move on?

Not really. Here it is judge for yourself.

Heelless set-neck construction, guitar pickup spacing, It's more like a slightly bigger guitar with only 4 strings.

IMO the Overwaters owe more to Fender's designs than the Burns (and that still isn't much)

To be honest, I have more than I use right now. It's the 5-strings that got all the fun during the last two years. I don't have my pop noir-band anymore, where I played Nick Cave style dark melodic pop on 4-strings with mostly classic sounds - an Italia Torino hollowbody, a Rickenbacker 4003, my Ibanez Musicians (a LOT!) and at one point even a Big Kydd electric upright. Nowadays I just have my metal band, which suits modern sounding instruments best. I have to punch my way through a full mix with two 7-string guitars and lots of keys (Hammond, synths). I usually just use my Warwick Streamer LX5 for that, and sometimes my Ellio Martina or my Stingray 5.

I just sold my Ibanez ATK300, which brings me back to 10 basses. I also have 5 guitars standing around and doing mostly nothing, except for a mid 80s MIJ Squier E-series Strat that I pick up a lot and an MIJ ESP Horizon bolt-on that I sometimes use for writing.

True... but I'd hazard a guess that at least 50% of basses bought are never used in anger and are just bought by people who want to dabble at being a rockstar.
I am conscious of this, and always told myself that if a bass was just gathering dust, I should probably sell it - as I did with my first two basses, a Squier Bronco and an Aria Pro II AVB. So I'm left with, in order of acquisition:

Sort-of-self-build (Brandoni Kit) Precision copy (Brenda)
Epiphone EB-3 (Christina)
Self-built "eBay Frankenbass" (Aradia)
Schecter Model T (Joanne)
Hagstrom HB-8 8-string (Vriska)
Gibson 2011 Thunderbird (Annie)
Warwick RB Corvette fretless (Eva)

In keeping with my (attempted) use-it-or-lose-it policy, all of them have been gigged except the fretless, and all of them have appeared on at least one Cherry White record so far except for the fretless and the 8-string. And given we'll be recording again in the new year, I expect I can crowbar those two onto a track somewhere along the way!

I have the three in my sig...the P is my go to, the Gretsch will get more outings now we have lost our drummer who thought his kit was a piece of artillery, the Dano has been great for chucking in the back of the car and twiddling with on our jolly holidays :) . A Tbird has been forecast, though there's part of me fancying an EB.

Too bloody many if the wife is to be believed.

A Rick I'll be buried with, a beautiful piece of wood with a Fender Select jazz attached, two SGC Nanyos that, this side of Keira Knightley, are most comfortable things you could drape round your neck and a limited edition American jazz in a never-seen-it-since wine red stain that's numbered and signed by the Fender head of production. I can only assume things were quiet on the factory floor that day and he was carrying a pen as he walked past the neck rack....

Hoping to add a nice 5-er soon but am probably going to consolidate so one of the Nanyos will go and the scribbled-on jazz

Unless i can distract her with shoes....

I'm rather low at the moment. Had 11 at one point.

1980 Ibanez Blazer
Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub
1978 Toaster Peavey T-40
1982 Blade Peavey T-40

I have gas for a Ric, a Spector, a Gibson EB14, a Gibson Les Paul, one of the Nordstrand equipped Ibanez SRs and a Mustang of some description.
