New double bass stand "the bass bar"

Hi All,

Just thought i'd share a new type of bass stand that I've found really great, especially for doubling gigs.

For full disclosure i should mention that it was designed by a colleague and i have written a testimonial for the site, but i have no other vested interest.

It's a really simple design, (the best often are!) but it does away with the two main problems: either, 1. having to locate the spike in a holder you can't see, or, 2. having to physically lift the bass on to a cradle - so it's really great for quick changes.

Here's a pic:

and here's the web site if anyone's interested in more info:

Cheers,
Daf :)

How much!! Wow, that is pricey!

Another thing i didn't mention was that it does fold down and the top bar comes off, so it looks like it would also be much more compact than that Kolberg one...

That's fantastic, simple design, I must put one on order, as most of my gigs are doublers, so this would make change overs easy.

I already designed and built my own electric bass stands which slot into either side my amp flight cases (handy when swapping between fretted and fretless bass).

Petes stand looks like a great idea, does anyone know if it comes with a case/ bag?

Cheers

Andrew

Don't know whether it comes with a bag
If anyone else buys one of these - please let us know,
as I may well opt for one of these simple stands...

Slightly off topic, but along the same lines, and re the post above, by Andrew
Sometime back, I bought one of these to act as stand for bass guitar
Just thought I'd give these the nod,
as it saves carting another stand around...

Of course, your amp has to be covered in material which will work with velcro
and be tall enough - my CMD 102 combo is, when tilted back
It's very small and light, and works very well as stand for my spare bass

Just thought a few DB'ers who double up with BG may want to know of this useful item

I always carry a hand towel/bar towel when playing to wipe my hands/clean neck etc. I thread it through the side handle of the cab and use it to tie around the neck of my electric. It works REALLY well and is great for keeping the electic bass secure + no stand to carry.

Hi everyone, it`s just taken me two years to catch up with this thread!

Firstly many thanks to Daf who posted this originally. To answer some of the questions, there is no bag at the moment but there will be later on this year.

The stand is still very stable and works really well resting on the ribs in the C section and just a long extended tailpin.

It`s also good for your back!!

I recently bought a bass bar and am happy with it.

Nearly all my gigs are doubling, and it allows me to switch instruments quickly and without faff. Then when the upright is not being played it's now taking up a smaller footprint on stage.

It's light, folds down small, and can confirm it does come with a bag. Good product 👍
