What are you listening to right now?

Recommended Posts

Back on a 80s indie/post punk tip. As a teen Peelie's show was essential listening for me, the only place I could really hear indie rock that never got daytime airplay. Here are top tunes from three of my fave (woefully underrated/overlooked) finds

Today would have been Delia Derbyshire's 84th birthday!

Happy Birthday Delia!

Seeing as we've had a couple of tunes by The Chameleons already, here's another corker.

I know it's a bit of a cliché to say Jimi Hendrix was good, but I've just been listening to some live stuff and this from the Royal Albert Hall is sublime. The combination of his voice and guitar compliment each other perfectly and are just beautiful as they wash over you.

There are many imitators who can do Jimi note perfect.

Which completely misses the point, he rarely played a phrase the same twice. And the sheer variety of voicings, vibratos he's getting there is astounding.

Limbeck.

I'd never heard a note of theirs until yesterday; plenty of mentions, but never bothered.  It's really good.  Suprisingly so.  It just seems to sound like a lot of bands I like just went into the studio and recorded an album.
