Oh pants, fingers crossed. I was a big fan back in the (70s) day. This calls for some Strangers in the Night (and my favourite - and longest! - Michael Schenker solo)
+1
Fantastic album that somehow seems to get overlooked. Best live album of that era IMO.

I was with the prostate cancer guys when I had my cancer treatment. Thankfully increasingly treatable when caught early.

Anyone who clicked on this thread who wants to donate to the Basschat Movember team who are raising cash to fight cancers precisely like this can do so by clicking the link https://www.movember.com/uk/donate/payment/team_id/1017501/

Fingers crossed for Pete that he is another to make a full recovery.

Big UFO fan here. The two badges on my coat when I was 13 were UFO and the Stranglers. Two bands with great Bassmen. My elder brother had Strangers In The Night, so we were always singing that one into the curtain pull cord in the living room. Or 'Rocks Bottoms' as I used to wail into the pretend mic.

Pete's not an iconic rock bass player. He is the icon. Best wishes Mate, and get well soon :friends:

No! one of my hero's :( - Lights Out on that live album is one of the greatest songs ever recorded live - saw him many times in Waysted as well - Save Your Prayers is another excellent album - met him when they supported Quo in 1867 or whenever it was and chatted to him for ages in his tour van; really lovely bloke and stoned out of his head :D

Best wishes to him - really hope for a full and speedy recovery

Another big UFO/Pete Way fan here. Been into them since the late 70's/early 80's gigs at the Freetrade Hall and Apollo Theatre in Manchester. Last saw them at the Carling Academy in Liverpool probably 5 years ago. Think Pete left them shortly after for medical reasons (liver?). Anyway, one of the greats and a huge inspiration to me. Get well soon Pete.

I was never a huge fan of UFO,
but did like them & get to see them once...

"Lights out" is indeed great
Hope Pete gets well soon

For a short while, Paul Gray (Hot Rods, Damned) also played bass for UFO
He too has had cancer - throat
Paul has always been a huge influence to me - and a great guy to boot
(I just turned up on his doorstep one day, out of the blue
and he invited me in! - he gave me a few free lessons in my early days of playing - what a star)

Paul is on the road to recovery, thankfully

Ironically, Bryn Merrick who replaced Paul on Bass for the Damned also has throat cancer :(

I just hope all 3 bassists pull through
Good luck to them all
