Absolutely, I almost felt embarrassed to mention the price I paid for it.
The price I normally pay for a top is somewhere between 50 and 100 euros.

The knobs covered in five layers of Danish oil.

Do you find the smell of the Iroko bad when you machine it? I worked for a wood machining company in the `80s and we made chopping boards from it (well i did i was the only cnc machinist) and i used to hate the smell of it as it was machining. Looks great though, ive got one of the sidewinder pups waiting to be installed so i will be interested in your opinions.

Made some pickup rings for the neck pickup, the one that comes as standard is to thick for my purpose.
For the time being I'm going for the one on the right, a little bit of bling is allowed. Edited by blablas

The body is done for now, I will need to finish the neck first before I can continue with it.
This weekend I'll decide what types of wood I'm going to use for the neck. Edited by blablas

Made my choice for the woods I'm going to use for the neck:
Bubinga/wenge/bubinga, rosewood fingerboard, merbau headstock and of course a iroko headstock veneer. Edited by blablas

I've also been toying around with the idea to color the body, that's not going to happen, I prefer the natural look of wood. Edited by blablas

Leveled the neck with my special setup.

And routed the truss rod groove with the same setup, done this immediately after I leveled the neck because than the groove will have the proper depth along the complete length.

And today's result. Edited by blablas

Finished of the end of the truss rod groove at the headstock end.

In more detail.

I also leveled the backside of the neck and thus machined the heel of the neck to the (almost) right thickness.

Drilled the holes for the tuners.

And after drilling these holes sawed of the last two bands of the now redundant wood.

Made two truss rod covers, one in black and one in silver, later on I will chose which one I'm going to use. Edited by blablas

Finished shaping the headstock and leveled the top up to grain 220.

finished of shaping the clearance as well.

Also leveled the fingerboard and sides of the neck.

Tomorrow I'm going to place the side position dots and after that the frets can be hammered in, but before I'm going to do the frets I want to make the neck pocket in the body. Edited by blablas
