I'm into loads of different styles of music, but for me the three that come to mind are: [list=1] [*]Massive Attack - Angel (Saw them live at last years o2 wireless festival. As soon as Angel began it was as if the earth was about to crack beneath me) [*]The Chemical Brothers - Block Rockin' Beats (A bit repetitive I know, but is instantly recognisable as a result) [*]Pink Floyd - Money (Had to be added here, probably one of the more interesting bass lines due to its timing) [/list] What's yours? Funnily enough some of the basslines that I enjoy playing the most could be considered boring (U2 - With or without you/One, Cameo/Gun - Word Up) but I love putting accents and stresses in different places whilst twisting or embellishing them and I can happily zone out doing some of them! Beatles/Jam - Taxman/Start Fleetwood Mac - The Chain (middle 8/solo) Pearl Jam - Jeremy By definition any bassline is a favourite bassline coz we get to play it! However when questions like this come up I often think about the most recognizable basslines. The parts that your average non-muso would know a song from instantly without necessarily realising it is the bass playing it. For that I'd go with, in no particular order... New Year's Day With or Without You You can't Hurry Love Another One Bites the Dust Town Called Malice Good Times The Chain (though most people would probably just say "The Grand Prix music!") This is a really cool thread because there's so many great basslines. I doubt you could say that about how many great 'rythym guitar' parts there are!
