I unfortunately need to sell a few basses as I was out of work for quite a while and have only just managed to get a part time job…so something has to give.....

1969 Walter A. Hoyer (3rd Generation) German Master Luther’s since 1874 EB3 style custom build. I bought this for a Free/ Bad Co tribute gig that I was doing.

Dark vintage cherry finish with cream binding and chrome hardware.
Gibson style, black and mother of pearl headstock. Black pickguard. Each Hoyer is unique, but from the harmony central reviews all were brilliantly made.
Hoyer guitars are becoming collector’s items as they're very rare, but great vintage basses, a Gibson without the brand name?! Also you can cry a little less if you knock it - built like a tank. I would guess that the neck is maple from the look of it, Schaller machines and a really solid bridge that I greatly prefer to the Gibson. 21 frets and a lovely and quite slim neck.

Good condition for it's age but has scratches and nicks 1/4 of a fingernail in size in lacquer only not in wood, mainly situated on bottom two bouts and buckle area, so a players bass but ont 'reliced'
Missing the pickup ashtrays however, but has the Hoyer engraved pickup covers which act as a great ramp, also has a chrome thumb rest.
At the moment it is fitted with an EMG two band EQ but using the original knobs and leaving the disconnected switch in place to preserve the vintage appearance, it now has a far greater range of sounds. I have the original circuit as well though.
I can take more pics if there is anything particular that you wish to see.

Used to be mine!! Has a hell of a punch with some flatwounds and looks the dogs - this was the only bass my girlfriend liked  . £400 is dirt cheap for the quality of the instrument, my guitar tech in Cardiff loved these & had a collection. The pickup selector has one position that sounds just like a Rickenbacker too! The condition's purely cosmetic, it's a rock solid instrument...(£400!!!)

Hope you enjoyed it Dave :)
