This is a 'Rolls-Royce' flight case, built by a well known manufacturer, built to last and providing excellent protection.

They come in 2 sizes, 3/4 and 7/8. This is the larger one, and as such retails at $3050 if purchased new from David Gage, which is about £2000 not including the considerable shipping and import costs.

It has obviously been put to good use as it has a few scuffs and a visible bash (which I have photographed), but is still as effective in protecting a bass nonetheless.

There is plenty of info about these cases on the David Gage site at http://www.davidgage...?products_id=35
This includes all the info about interior and exterior measurements and weight etc.

If you're interested and need any more pictures or info please get in touch.

I'm seriously beginning to wonder whether this (and a roof rack), is a better solution than an EUB for my problem at http://basschat.co.u..._fromsearch__1. I bought a cheap hard case for DB a few years back and not only was it ridiculously huge, it would have offered little protection to any serious impact being made of some form of polystyrene. This looks to be in a different league quality wise? Shaun, have you used it as above (i.e, on a roof rack), is it waterproof/resistant, and what are the exact dimensions and, importantly, weight? Also I assume you've padded it out successfully for a normal 3/4 instrument?

You might need to reply sharpish before the idea of my spending close to £1k on a case comes to it's logical conclusion

Do you have weight and size? The last case I had was probably almost twice the size of the bass it carried, I'm guessing this is more like the cases in which I see cellists carrying their instruments around on their backs (not that there are many cellists walking around in the Cambrians)!

It's definitely big! Here's a link to the the David Gage website where all the spec info is. There's a diagram with all the dimensions and weights etc. From measuring it I deduced it's the 7/8 sized one and is the regular weight making it 60 lbs. When I used it I had a 3/4 bass which fitted with room to spare, but the inflatable padding held it in place no problem. If you need any more info or pictures give me a shout!

Shaun :)
