SWR 6 x 10 Cab

Does anybody use an SWR 6x10 cab? My new band is playing heaver stuff and my 2 Aguilar GS112's were lacking punch and depth at our last gig. The SWR is reasonably compact and at low shop volumes seems to sound good. What is it like at gig volume?

Any help gratefully received before I part with any cash.

I had one and it was great but my back didn't like it. Very loud, very punchy.

I had one, it was ace, but as you say you really need two to move it easily. I ran an Ampeg SVT Cassic into mine. The guy from pearl jam uses the same set up as his bassic rig.

Not sure where you are based, but there's one down at Bass Merchant in Witham. They also have a couple of Warwick 6x10's and a Markbass 6x there to try out too.

I liked the SWR. Bright and punchy with a good girth to it. Though I think you'll find that the Aggies *sound* deeper. My money would be on the Aguilar GS212's. I was seriously into those. I was about to buy a couple, but then someone had to spoil the fun with Epifani!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm regularly at the Bass Merchant on Saturday mornings and I have tried the SWR and the Mark Bass cabs there. I like the sound of both, but the SWR is a more compact design and would fit in the car more easilly. Perhaps I'll give it another go next time I'm there.

+1 for the Aggie cabs. If you like the GS112's but want more oomph then why not get a GS212 or a GS412 or as Dood suggested, a pair of GS212's?
I couldn't be happier with my GS412, awesome cabs. I think they're not too bad to transport either due to the tilt back with wheels. I find it much easier than guitar 4x12's and my old pair of 1x15's to move. Doubt it would be much harder than a 6x10.
