I don't even really gel with Warwicks, but this one sounds incredible!

I really like the one I just picked up on the for sale forum although it's an older NT rather than a bolt on. I did watch this video before I made my purchase.

I should note that my technique is not nearly as good.

I've got a price list for 2012 here - they are just over £2K for a thumb 5 bolt on (that doesn't include any optional extras of course...)

That is one fabulous sounding bass. I have always loved the sound of Warwick Thumb Basses : for my money they are one of the best sounding ( and looking) basses ever. They have got such a rich and focused tone that will cut through in any situation and a beautifully crisp attack to the notes that seem to pop out from your fingers as you play. It's just a shame that , for me at least, the ergonomics of this model are a bit of an aquired taste ; I personally find the Streamer body shape far more comfortable . What this video demonstrates to me is that , unlike a lot of exotic wood basses , Warwicks have got enough grit and guts in their sound to make themselves heard in a loud band situation, and that is one of their great strenghths in my opinion. I suppose the fact that so many big - name players in the hard/ alternative rock genre are gravitating towards Wawicks nowadays is testament to this.

I guess the thumb 5 BO isn't a german one :)

can we see photos of your thumb? which one was it you got?

well with all your problems with bad basses being sent back, never heard much bad from warwick on that respect

Its either the WA 300 or the WA 600. They are modeled after the Hellborg line of high-end amps, but designed to fit into a more affordable package. I use the WA600 myself, and they are just fantastic. You can read more about them here:

Yup, I agree Gareth, that's a really special sounding bass.
I used to have a Thumb Bass BO 5 string which sounded amazing! I've got some pretty nice sounding recordings with an old band, just Thumb Bass straight into a Sansamp, everything flat, bar a tiny bit of grit on the Sansamp.
One of my favourite tones ever.

If somehow it could've been a medium scale bass I'd likely still have it!
