I love seeing the guitars in their most raw forms. I did have complete build shots of my Rumour but Bernie's memory card gave up the ghost and ate them. I'm sure I have some Spitfire ones somewhere also... but I'll have to hunt those ones down.

I've got these though -

Give it five minutes or so.... and then you end up with -

No need for colours - the wood is going to pop out like mad when the poly is applied!

James.
When I look at the middle, I see this...

See the beak, head and two paws??
i like the 3rd one!

James.
100% the third one from me. I do like the contrast between the maple neck and the facing in the 4th picture... but defo not with the exposed thru neck... but yeah, defo the 3rd with a slight burst round the edge (like my Spitfire). It's gonna look sick man! Whatever you go with though, it's your choice... and if you like the maple, go with the maple!

2nd or 4th, u gotta have a maple board, GB's are supposed to be bright, and maple boards always help, and the colour contrast will look gr8, are you gonna have the fore arm rest area cutaway to show the layers, think thats always a good touch?
Man its gonna look the dogs, nope u should go for no4 thats the bestest, IMHO

You should go with what you want... I am a big maple fan (I actually prefer maple boards to anything else), but am with Bernie on the Rumour being better suited to darker boards. What you got to remember is that the neck going through the body is going to be high gloss (presumably you are going to have it buffed up and aren't going for an off the gun finish?) and the neck is going to be satin. Could look a bit weird.

err... says who?

bass_ferret certainly stuck to that rule with his fretless!

The best looking GB I have ever seen is a complete black rumour with ebony board and silver hardware. Ended up going to Holland. Looked fantastic.

GBs main claim to fame as it were was tied up with Mark king using them for a period, as you know of course, and IMHO defines there default sound in some ways, I realise they can do the whole plethora of other sounds but I just think as a default setting GBs being known for there almost hifi sound quality is no bad place to start. Hence the slap switch as its known. Anyways thats just my two pence worth.

Bugger i guess this is gonna lead to a lot of opinions and discussion! and we will lose the porn purpose of this thread, perhaps it should be moved!

To put that right, its a lovely sunny day and I have the day off so Im gonna take some outdoor pics of my pride and joy just for the hell of it.

OK - first up many more pro players have used GB not just Mark King and whilst he is probably one of the more high profile players, I wouldn't say he defines the sound of a GB... Laurence for example, is at the complete other end of the spectum - virtually no treble whatsoever... and for what it's worth, all of Mark's GBs had dark necks because GBs are supposed to be bright :)

GBs are slap monsters though...!

Opinions and discussions are good! If we were all the same, the world would be a boring place.

You're right - it is a nice day... and I'm going to go to the pub in a bit and get some scran. Big fat burger I think.
