Chorus!

Since my fuzz thread was so popular..
What do you guys use for chorus? I've always wanted to find
the perfect chorus: analog and very versatile/controllable. The EHX
Small Clone just doesn't cut it, it's too subtle and simple for me. So
do you have any good analog & moderately controllable chorus pedals?

I think I might have to resort to... *shudder* a Boss pedal! Anything but that!

Let's just say I have a thing with Boss.
Every effect I've heard by them is just bad in some way.. especially
overdrive/distortions.
The analogman one is pretty cool, bit flanger-like in a way.
But if you guys approve of the Boss chorus, then why not?!
It IS cheap, so I won't regret buying it *much* if I really do hate
it.

The DOD FX 62 Stereo Bass Chorus was a pedal I regret seliing and now fetch silly money on ebay.
I replaced it with a DOD FX 65 Stereo Chorus which seemed as good although it was designed for guitar.and these can be had for a reasonable price.

Is the FX 65 the 'Ice Box Stereo Chorus', the sparkly blue one? - If so, I used this as my primary chorus pedal for 4 years and miles better than most bass chorus pedals I've used. Seriously a good unit and far superior to the FX62 Bass Chorus.

My top pick would go to the EBS Unichorus. Its a super versatile chorus and a reasonable flanger. Very organic and lush sounding with great frequency response. 2nd hand they can be had for £80-90 (got mine 2nd hand for £85) and it's been on my board for 18 months. Anyone that knows me will know thats quite a claim!! Oddly I find the non-true bypass version sounds 'fuller' than the true bypass one. Truth be told I've found that about all the EBS pedals.

I also own and use a Moog Cluster Flux but as that is as far from a traditional chorus unit I think it's best brushed over.

have a look at PEARL pedals from the 80's, totally analogue. I have the phaser and its fantastic. They're becoming quite collectable but you can still pick em up on ebay for about 60 squid

I use my Boss CE-2 clone with mix control, depth, vibrato & bass mods. Its nice & warm, not cold, or sterile and is very bass friendly. Lot of tonal variety too.

It's the same pedal circuit as CMAT Mods 'Waterbox', so I'd definitely recommend trying one of those if you can find one.

I have a Boss CE-2B.
Why the shuddering? Unless you're using pedals for top-banana recording, isn't it good enough for your average venue gig?

Pino used a Boss Octave for Tear your PLayhouse Down. If its good enough for Pino...
i saw Pino last year at a gig where he was using the boss octave - its still good enough :)

.....but to stay on topic, i got a digitech bass multichorus because i thought it'd be better than the boss alternative - not so - a TON of hiss when engaged renders it more or less useless except for the chorus of "Don't stop believin'"....

So many different DOD chorus pedals. It's like they came out with an original and made small
changes to it and re-released it every 6 months..

The one Boss pedal that I have is the CEB-3 bass chourus - great pedal and used by many top pros (as is the brown octave pedal)
