I had one which I sold to Philw - fretless - I wasn't overly impressed TBH - lacked something...This one is a bit overpriced in my opinion - I've had a quick hunt through my ebay account - I paid £557+P&P for mine..it came with a broken nut which the eBay seller failed to mention..had to have a new one fitted and the bass set up...if you have a hunt on the "For sale" thread you might find details of mine/philw's...

Would I buy one again?? definitely not..

I had one with a pointy kinda head stock,Japanese made, HMT I think, so either earlier or later version. I found it powerful, versatile and very light. If I could find the model I had at a sensible price (last one I saw was a while back at around £800) I would sell the Mrs to get it.

A mate of mine had one very similar to this and it was beautiful to hold and play, it even smelt nice, real woody(not man wood that wood smell awful). I would love one but they aren't very practical, tonally it was limited. The sound it made was real nice but there was no range. Am I making sense.

So, just like a Fender Precision then? Actually, had one of these in the early 90s. Played unplugged it had enough character that it made a nice instrument to fiddle with at home, particularly at night. Always wondered if the fretless version would have been more fun. Think the main problem was the character of the Lace pickup - a bit synthetic. Thought it was the USA made version that was uncommon, and more collectable?

yes i have a fretless HMT and that pre-amp brings the bass alive as a fretless

also tried it on a fretted HMT and not such a noticeable improvement
