you have to have pedals that go in the feedback loop surely? But yeh a feedback loop with a distortion pedal in will make some weird noises for you. If you could afford to get a multi effects, like one of the plastic Zoom units, and then put that in a feedback loop, you'd have loads of fun.

Analog delays will make an oscillating tone which can be useful.

I got the Napalm feedback looper (Snowball) - it's fun. If you get a distortiony thing and a modulation thing in the loop it does a whole lot of weirdness.

Look at Devi Ever stuff too. She makes some that self-oscillate which brings the nasty!
