I know there's a few: Who uses the Flat/Shape button on it? Mine's an ABM 300 and I was arseing about with it today because it's still new to me and thought I'd give it a go, and I actually quite like the sound it gives! Only tried it with the P, it's nice and punchy, and little bit middley/trebley but not bad, nicely rounded across all 4 strings. Will give it a go with the Jazz tonight too.
I like the sound I originally had with it (everything set to between 1 and 2 o' clock, the 4 sliders pushed up to the third or fourth dot), but I like the flat EQ button too. I sit cheating to use a pre-set EQ? I feel it is :)

Sorry, wasn't very clear! There's a button on the ABM amps below the input knob. Pressing it in engages a pre-set EQ. Pressing it out engages the amps EQ, which comprises Bass, Middle, and Treble knobs and 4 EQ boost sliders (180hz, 340hz, 1.3Khz and 2.6Khz).

From the Manual:-

PUSH FLAT / SHAPE - With this button in its
OUT position a fixed E.Q. is superimposed on
the preamp to give a bright but punchy
character to the sound. Pushing this button
IN returns the preamp to a Flat frequency
response. This function may also be
controlled from a footswitch. For the
footswitch to operate, this button must be in
its OUT position.
It's a mid scoop, I don't like them myself, the flat sound works absolutely fine, it cuts out the mids, which you want, really!
+1

This whole 'mid scoop' thing just baffles me...

I love the mids; lo mids, hi mids, all of 'em :)

Scoop the mids and you loose the body of the sound.
