Bloomin awesome! That was what! lol.. it was the 7xxx series. The head I think was the 7400. Black and gold front. Quite a heavy head, but much lighter than say that of an SVT!

It's an excellent concept, makes total sense for bass players as we use only a fraction of our amp's power most of the time even when we playing at full volume. Here it is:

So it seems that it really is Class G, with dual rail voltage, but only enough current capacity to provide continuous output when on the lower rail. Neat.

oh man yeah! I remember the first tme I heard one. The guy was rehearsing with it.. and he turned it up... and up... and up, yet it didnt sound mushy or choked. We had to stop when the rig was drowning out the drummer lol lol.

YEP! Nearly as nice as a P bass through a drity SVT and 8x10.. something gawjuss about that sound!!

Marshall brought out a 200W and 400W IBS head in black, then later release an Anniversary set including 300W and 600W heads. They had chrome mirrored front panels and slightly different preamps. At the time I preferred the tone of the former 2 heads.
