Best living room amp?

I use this:




Tucks into a space between the sofa and a wall and is more than loud enough. Also doubles as my rehearsal rig.
The only problem is my little girl loves the dancing LEDs so if she's in her walker she makes a dash for it. I have to be ready to put the bass down and stop her from unplugging leads and snapping pots at all times!

Obviously,an Ampeg SVT with an 8 x 10 cab.It'll make a great talking point too.Although I have a Hiwatt B15B,largely because it says HiWatt on it.If your after a tiny combo,I don't think there's much difference at around the 15w level.

Or 8-track mixer/QSC 1202/Trace 2103 or 1153 (Turn it down, Alex!)

Everyone should check out the tiny little rigs thread in the gear porn section to see the correct method and save money towards a separate head instead of buying more amps that won't sound as good as the creative little rig set ups

great choice BTW, brilliant for recording etc and with its 10W power output, perfectly decent as living room amp. Mine's plugged into my barefaced midget t!!!

I use an 80 watt Meridian guitar combo. its plenty loud, fited with a Celestion and doesn't rumble through to next door.

Although for the last couple of days I've had a Trace 15" 150 combo that i picked up on Gumtree during the week for £60

Woweee, I hadn't even considered a rig. Some of thos look great and I bet they sound braw too. I like the idea of being able to customise your sound by mixing amps and cabs. What're those Orange mini rigs like for nice warm tones?

I asked the same question as the o.p a couple of years ago.I think it was Musky who sent me the
pic of an Aguilar DB112 . So, I got that and the Aguilar AG500 sc . I've not been gigging ,but it does look good
especially with the Tele Bass.

I'm not familiar with the orange amps, my little Genz rig is in that thread though. It just makes sense to me to use your best gear all the time rather than sitting unused between gigs. There are enough makes and model to create your own rig that covers everything just by switching cabs about.

Yup,
Several times, in a band with one acoustic guitar and two singers going through a 300W PA.
The bass really really cut through nicely!

I've also played in a much bigger venue, using it as a stage monitor, and was asked to turn it down by the sound guy as it was loud enough to mess with the front of house sound!

I have an Orange Crush 50w combo in the living room.

But to be honest, I mainly practice with a Korg Pandora and a pair of headphones

The Orange has a headphone socket too.

I can plug the MP3 player through either and jam along.

It's all good

I put my little rig together purely because i wanted a versatile, clean sounding practice rig. I already had the Superfly and wanted to make use of it as i liked the sound of the amp, seemed like a great excuse to make a mini-rig!

What i like about mine is that i can save presets for the basses i use at home (fretless acoustic, Jazz and Precision) and flit between them with a button press, it's an amp i really like messing about with.

It's a much cleaner sound than the Hartke A70 it replaced which i prefer, even though the Hartke A series are great little amps for home practice

At a real push, I find. But it is a decent little home amp, with some decent recording chops too. I wish it were a bit lighter, but mine does well for the practice task.

Since i stole the dining room and put (im my opinion)a cab or 2 in it and lobbed her 500 quid table/chairs in the garage ,(only reason you see a chest freezer is cos i can fit 3 bass`s on stand high enough to stop the mutt knocking them over,)she says i can put an amp in the living room if i can find one that resembles the 2nd pic....f***in women...

I picked up an Ashdown Elec Blue with 12" speaker for £100 a few years back and its superb....not the smallest or lightest of amps but looks good & a great sound. Useful for small rehearsals/small gigs/recording too

Haha, I've never took much notice of one of those before, but I love the pic of a VU meter on it!

I used to use a Vox Venue 30Bass combo in the house, but nowadays I just use the MB combo. The Vox is in the boot of the car.

Vote of support for the Line 6 110 Studio. I use mine for living room practice and it tucks away neatly under the TV table. Up until recently I also used it for rehearsals with a rhthym guitarist, singer and unmiced drummer. It eventually ran out of puff when we got a lead guitarist too.

Hi fellas, i use an iPad with the Amplitube app and headphones, it has some good sounds plus tuner and compressor etc built in. You can also import songs from itunes and loop them, slow them down etc for learning stuff, also it dont wake up the wife & kids in the middle of the night! I have actually used the ipad on the last couple of gigs instead of my bass pod as I only used the tuner & compressor anyway and it sounds ok to me!!
I still got a Behringer BXL 450A plotted up behind the sofa, but it doesnt see the light much these days! I use it ocasionally and for the odd drum free rehearsals and its ok for a budget practice amp.
