TheGreek 1,960 Posted April 8, 2018 Here's the build thread: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/283510-thegreeks-mystery-bass-rebuild/ The pick ups are SimS system - absolutely brilliant piece of kit - recommend them to anybody. There are a set for sale in the Market Place - Ideally I'd need something to put them in before I buy them.
Jus Lukin 656 Posted April 9, 2018 Thanks, that was a great read. What a fantastic tale, and another impressive work by Andy. That bass has well and truly worked it's way into my subconscious now!
TheGreek 1,960 Posted April 9, 2018 I agree about the impressive quality of Andy's work... To prove it I really should get round to mastering how to put sound clips on here...
LukeFRC 220 Posted April 10, 2018 you bought the overwater back after all that time you spent selling it?!
TheGreek 1,960 Posted April 10, 2018 I can't help it if the BC membership don't recognise a great Bass when they see it - maybe the green put them off. I bought it back because I've yet to play another Jazz that's anywhere near as good...

Would be good to hear some nice clips if you ever get round to it. The bass sounded great on the bass bash video, a really nice 'tubbiness' compared to the Enfield, I thought. TheGreek 1,960 Posted August 2, 2018 Somebody was asking about the Cherry headless bass I have. Built by Mark Wood in Nottingham from Cherry, it's chambered with Seymour Duncan pups and Fender Marcus Miller preamp. Sounds very double bass-like. The only down side is that the headless unit is quite heavy so the bass is body heavy and hangs at about 2 o'clock..fine if you're using a pick or fingers but not if you want to slap. The grain and wood tones are beautiful as you can see.
