Precisions

Wanted a slimmer neck for chord stuff so slapped a roasted Jazz neck on it. For a new neck it needed zero fret work which was nice as the last fender roasted neck i had needed a fair bit of fret leveling etc.

As promised a couple of pics of my impending big 70 birthday treat, sold to me as a ‘76, originally rosewood fretted neck, defretted soon after purchase.
Around 1980, ebony board fitted and neck completely refinished and “new” decal applied.

Now restrung with my favourite Labella Lt flats, spent some time on setup and fettling and it sings as it should. 7623A9CF-B920-409F-8148-3DB19306DB13.thumb.jpeg.a4cbebbfae61b0456b82437ffaeaf372.jpeg15D58F58-4919-4AAC-AC38-9550953D2520.thumb.jpeg.a6f57093fa7a1ccd34dbdb36ad286e66.jpeg

From L to R - US '95 with a CS 62 Pickup, a very sweet sounding Precision strung with Detroit Flats, my 'Motown' bass. Next is my 2021 USA Precision Pro II in Miami Blue currently strung with rounds (for now) and the lovely LPB with ebony fingerboard as built by Walshy. Three absolutely cracking basses.

I thought id add a quater pounder bridge with a classic tonerider P pup to try getting over the old imbalance of pickup volumes..... Do these pickups need to be better matched??  Because each on there own great, but when blended the volume drops and thins 🤷‍♂️ (all wired up properly with a kiorgan loom).

Anyways it looks cool for me

As this just came as a trade and I haven’t had one for a while this is the 4th I have owned, but over a very long period. Nice weight 3.9 kg and a very easy playing neck. Hope to have some fun with it.

Looking at other basses on here I wonder if this would look better with a black pickguard or even tort! What do others think?

Here's a pretty crappy pic of my lovely Precisions...

Top left is my current main squeeze - two Squier basses bodged together with a a Kiogon loom (V/T/3 way toggle), Entwistle pups and a comedy decal.

Next left is another FrankenSquier with a Wilkinson bridge and a gen-u-wine Fender P pup.

Middle is Old Red - same as the white one (almost) but with a gorgeous, skinny, left handed, Jazz Bass Neck.

Far right is a cruelly molested Fender Cowpoke. Active circuit removed, toggle switch and V/T loom installed, Entwistle pickups and a custom Tort plate.

Front and centre is a Bass Centre Bruce Thomas Sig with Deep Talkin' flats fitted.
