Billy Apple 1,130 Posted February 7, 2016
Just took this in a trade. It's a 1980 4001 in Azureglo. It's actually in pretty good shape apart from a few dings and checking in the nitro. The action is very low and it's a nice sized neck, not one of the clubby ones
I had the twin of this, I thought for a minute that it was my old one! The neck on mine was almost perfect in terms of width and profile, just couldn't get on with the body.

Meddle 395 Posted March 11, 2016 That bass used to belong to the bassist in Purson, but was on Ebay a wee while back. Did you get it?
Stag 16 Posted March 15, 2016 Looking at the pictures of the 4003S Rics on here has really pushed my GAS button for a Jetglo one... Seems like there aren't any firms that have any stock around though?!
martthebass 755 Posted March 16, 2016 Hmmmmmmmm ruby red 4003S....that would be very nice. It'd be just like a 4003 but without the fight and arm cutting ;-)

leftyyorky 5 Posted May 14, 2017 Hi,not been on basschat for a while, but since last time I've joined the Ric club so here's my lefty 4003 mapleglo from 2000 which has since had the annoying pickup cover removed and replaced with a Tubeampology bezel. maggsybass 1 Posted December 5, 2018 I might put the pickup cover back on 🤔 Nicer to play without it though.
Jus Lukin 2,775 Posted December 6, 2018 That's a lovely bit of Mapleglo! I have the same bezel as it happens, seems to work nicely- well, as nicely as anything works on a Rick. 😉 I pulled the 'made in USA' sticker off recently, but I still can't work out it feels like it should be there or not! Meddle 395 Posted February 28, 2019 My 2009 4003 bass. This has been a massive modding project. I bought the bass on Ebay, from a seller who was selling all their possessions to go around the world teaching folk to paraglide. I made the pickguard myself, pickups are JBE/ Joe Bardens, I've fitted a Tubeampology bezel, used a Retrovibe carriage on the bridge pickup, stripped the factory varnish and applied Danish Oil finish, installed a Rickysounds bone nut and knobs. It arrived from Ebay looking like this: The factory lacquer didn't really make the figuring pop in the wood. Luckily the oil finish chased this out: The inside of the bass was also fully shielded while I was in there:
