cris the man Posted December 18, 2007 Share Posted December 18, 2007 i know , the king of cheese... its a 12 string bass , just a 6 string with 2 strings together for each note i recently saw it on the web and i wondered how would you tune the 2nd string to each 1st string? would the ow B have an octave above or below? more importantly , HOW would u restring the bugger? what wound would you use? Machines Posted December 18, 2007 Share Posted December 18, 2007 The strings are in octaves. So the E string would be a normal E and E an octave higher (same note as guitar low E). Like an 8-string but with more top end. At least that's what most 12-strings are. <google> Aha, here we are. Playing the intro and verse from Jeremy by Pearl Jam made me grin like a fool! I'd love one of these but can't really justify. Harmonisers and octavers don't get close IMO. It's true to say that harmonisers and octavers don't do the concept justice, but has anyone tried the Variax basses.
