    Hey Guys,

I have only recently taken this as part of a trade and it is easily one of the nicer Ibanez basses I’ve owned, but I’m looking to move this on to go towards getting either a Warwick SS1 or Spector Euro 5.

I am only the second owner of this bass, but the original owner really looked after it and as such it is in great condition for its age, which is about 10 years roughly. There were some high frets that prevented a fully low action and a temperamental jack socket, both have recently been fixed professionally by Mark at Wilts Guitar Repair.

Here’s a few recent videos of the bass in action:

The bass is located in Bridgwater, Somerset. I’m happy to deliver/meet up within a certain distance. I can also have it posted with the Ibanez gig bag for £20.

    Any questions please just ask👍🏻

    Thanks,

    Josh.

  2. Hey Guys,

Here we have a Warwick Thumb BO 5 string from early 2000, which means it has both a ovangkol body and neck with a wenge fingerboard. It also has the brass JAN which works perfectly fine. The original electronics failed a while ago and the previous owner replaced them with a newer MEC 2 band preamp.

Due to its age (23 years old) this bass has definitely been played, but the overall condition is good. There is one noticeable ding on the back of the neck, but it doesn’t cause any issues and you forget it’s even there. There are a few marks on the top of the head stock and the black is beginning to age like older Warwick’s tend to. Due to being an older Warwick, the tail piece has had to be filed on the B and E string to accommodate slightly heavier gauge strings and unfortunately the body was caught slightly and is visible, but again it causes no issue to the playability of the bass.

I’m only looking to move this amazing bass on in order to get a Warwick Streamer Stage 1 5 string or a Spector Euro 5, as either bass suits my style a bit better. So, I would be happy to trade for a SS1 or Euro 5, and I am happy to add my Ibanez SR1605 which is also listed to a potential trade as well. But, as always, I am open to other offers as well.

I’m located in Bridgwater, Somerset. I’m happy to meet or deliver within a certain distance. Postage could be arranged for the right deal.

    Price dropped to £1100

    Any questions please ask!

    Thanks,

    Josh.

The peak light flashes when I hear distortion on the video clip. Could it just be you are blasting the input level and its then being picked up as a distorted high level signal? The charachter button is also on which gives amongst other things a +6db boost at 75hz. Thats going to boost the input level significantly.  Even with the master down, there could be a small amount of distorted signal from too high an input getting through. If you back off the input gain until the clip led stops flashing does it still distort? There's also a mention on the TDS blurb about checking a toggle swtich on the rear panel for phantom power. Should be set to off if you are not using an active bass that will work with phantom power. Might be worth a quick look🙂

As per the instructions/product demos, EBS recommends to set the gain level by getting it to peak and to then immediately bring the level down to get the sweet spot before it peaks, as annoyingly there is no pad switch. And for the purpose of the video I did hammer it a bit to prove that it did it even on the lowest amount of gain. I did also check the phantom power switch before as well and it’s been off the whole time👍🏻

I have now taken the whole rig to Tony at Hurstbatch Services to have a complete once over and we very quickly found out the cab is absolutely fine and that is just the head that’s causing the problem. We checked the tube and that was perfectly fine as well, so Tony is going to investigate and hopefully find out what the fault is.

Hmm, I had something similar with my old Mesa combo. I think it ended up being a faulty driver. I eventually replaced the driver.

If you could identify which speaker that the distortion is coming from then that would be a start.

On closer aural inspection I believe the distortion is coming from one of the top 10" speakers. I'm also starting to think the TD650 itself could do with a once-over due to its age and the previous owner left it unplayed for over 6 months roughly. I guess I'm going to need to find a amp tech somewhere in Somerset.

So long as there is no audible distortion when the cab is connected and the volume is turned up then I would consider it to be an issue.

    Thanks for that mate!

I generally have the cab connected for when I do covers so I have some room volume instead of relying solely on my monitors.

I should've stated that unfortunately the distortion is still there when the master is turned up, albeit quiet but it's definitely there.

    Good Evening All,

So, I managed to snag a whole EBS TD650 and Proline 4X10 rig recently and it's been fantastic thus far. However, I started to notice recently that when recording at night that when I would turn off stand-by and with the master volume at 0, that my bass could be heard coming through the cab but distorted. I've included a video which hopefully helps to show the issue.

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thanks Guys!

    Josh.

    UPDATE:

I have taken the whole rig to Tony at Hurstbatch Services and we quickly found that the cab is perfectly fine and that it is just the TD650 that has a problem. The tube is working perfectly fine, so that eliminated the easiest solution. So, hopefully he will be able to find out what’s causing the issues!

    Hey guys,

So, I’ve had this amazing bass for about 5 years and it has been my workhorse and I’ve absolutely loved having it. I’ve played many gigs and recorded all of my previous bands material with this bass and it has never let me down. But, as I’ve learnt in over 20 years of playing bass, nothing lasts forever and I’m open to trying something different.

This bass is around 17 years old and unfortunately I’m unaware of its previous ownership history, other than I got it from a chap in Europe on here. As such, it has a fair bit of scratches (more so on the back of the bass) and dings and the brass hardware has faded gradually.

This bass originally had the standard Tonepump preamp, it was the older version without the trimpot to control the output gain, so playing at full volume was an issue. I have since had it replaced with a new Tonepump which has the trimpot, which makes getting the correct output much easier. I also had the controls changed to a volume/blend set up instead of the individual volumes that comes as standard. The only other alteration I’ve had done was to have a battery box. Later Euros have these as standard and I’ve always thought it was a mistake to not have one on such a premium bass back then.

All of the work on this bass has been professionally done by Mark, at Wilts Guitar Repair.

Here’s a few videos of it in action:

Currently, I’d be interested in a trade for another active 5 string. Jazz basses/Warwick Thumbs & Streamers, Ibanez Prestige/Premium, Lakland JO5/55-64, maybe even a Dingwall.

Ideally, I’d prefer to hand over the bass in person, but could post for the right bass. I’m located in Bridgwater, Somerset, but I can also meet within a certain distance as well.

    Any questions, please just ask.

    Thanks,

    Josh.

  8. Hey guys,

The need for a second 5 string means this bass has to go to make way for one. I’ve had it since July this year and the previous owner really looked after it and as such it’s in great condition.

The specs for this bass can be found here: Specs

This is preferably a collection only from Bridgwater, Somerset. I would be happy to meet within a certain distance as well!

    Thanks,

  9. Hey guys,

Since the new site update, I’m not able to actually view any threads at all, I can see the images in the marketplace but then when I tap on a thread nothing loads up. I’ve tried emptying the cache for Safari on my phone but it’s still happening.

Is there a fix for this?

    Thanks,

    Josh.

Hey Josh, I’m interested but due to neck and shoulder problems I need something not too heavy, and with minimal neck dive. How much does it weigh, and what’s the balance like especially seated. Cheers, John

    Hey John,

I’ll weigh the bass later on today and get back to you with the actual weight. Due to its maple/alder/walnut construction, it does have a bit of weight behind it, which is part of its tone, but I’ve had previous Warwick and Lakland basses which have been much heavier. A good solid comfort strap lessens any weight issues.

As for the balance though, it is possibly one of the most balanced and comfortable basses I’ve had and sits perfectly both sat down and stood up. There are absolutely no neck dive issues at all, unlike the ReBop models due to the very light bodies they have.

  11. Hey guys,

Here we have my trusty Spector Euro LX 5 that I’ve had for about 3 years now, it’s been my go to bass throughout and I’m only listing this as there’s a chance to get another bass I’ve been wanting for a long time, so this will only be available until it’s either sold or the bass I’m interested in has sold.

The bass is around 16 years old now. It originally had the Tonepump preamp, but due to the lack of a trim pot, I had it changed out for a much more flexible EMG BQC system. So, instead of the standard Vol/Vol/Bass/Treble layout, it’s now Vol/Blend/Bass/Mids/Mid Frequency/Treble, as well as internal dip switches for the treble response frequency. I also had a battery box installed to accommodate the new preamp and for ease of changing the battery. All of the work and full set up was carried out by Mark at Wilts Guitar Repairs.

Due to its age, it has got some signs of wear and some dings and scratches to the body, hopefully these are evident enough in the photos, but I can always provide some more if required. The brass hardware has dulled a little bit with time as well, but it all still works perfectly fine.

As I said above, this is only available temporarily and will remove if I’m unable to sell it in time. I am open to trade offers, but only for either a Warwick Streamer 5 string or Thumb 5 string, or a more recent Spector Euro 5. I have a Ibanez SR600 and Squier Classic Vibe Jazz I could add to sweeten the deal.

I currently have no means of posting it, but am happy to deliver within a certain radius of Bridgwater, Somerset.

  12. *Price drop to £700

    Hey all,

So, something is available very locally to me and I’m about ready to bite the bullet on it, but I need to move this one on first. It’s a Lakland 55-60 (formerly the JO signature) which I bought brand new from Guitargutiar in Birmingham back in February. As such it has only be played at home and is in fantastic condition.

I have no means of posting this bass, but if anyone would like to do so they would need to supply the box. It will come with a good quality gig bag. But otherwise, it’s collection from Bridgwater, Somerset, or I can meet up/deliver within a certain area.

This is primarily for sale, unless you have a Spector Euro 4 you wish to trade😁

Specs and further info can be found here: Specs

  13. Hey guys,

Just a bit of a feeler in this one. I bought this brand new about a month ago from PMT in Bristol as a backup for my Spector Euro 5, but for now it is barely getting played despite a fresh restring. I’d be interested in potentially trading towards a jazz bass/precision bass of some description (Fender, Squier, Lakland, etc...).

The bass is in mint condition and can be supplied with a ropey but reliable gig bag if needed.

I’m located in Bridgwater, Somerset, and can meet up within a reasonable distance.

    Thanks,

    Josh.
