Obviously it's the solo bits that get the attention but having seen him live twice now he is SO good at holding the band together. He also looks like he is having a ridiculous amount of fun doing it.

That's true. I have just watched some videos, and I can see what the fuss is about. He genuinely comes across as a super nice chap and incredibly generous with his time and his material.
