  1. I agree about focusing on the sound of the bass/gear and not the sound of the player. I sometimes come across the channel Bass Bonedo when looking for reviews. His USP is no talking and (relatively) simple playing, but shockingly he has over 250 videos and only 12.5k subs. While the flashy boys have far more subs. Shows you what works on the internet just now.
  2. All the strings https://youtu.be/p2kJMPfFOX8?si=4K8WF40p-Q2CcbvN
  3. Or for something like this Harley Benton:
  4. Something to while away 15 minutes or so on a Monday - https://www.music-man.com/custom-design-experience Ignore the silly prices and make a few Stingray specs. Nothing ground breaking on the tool but fun nonetheless, the coloured pole pieces are a nice touch.
  5. I think this has been mentioned before, but I'm sure they will Super light anything (within reason). So I don't see why they couldn't do a super light VS-5 for you as a custom option. Timescale could be the only issue now.
  6. I believe there are a few fans of this model. Might be of interest 😅
  7. It's tough with so much info available, but try and not be influenced by others recommendations and opinions. Spend some time with the bass and if something is still really bugging you after a couple of months, then maybe there is a need to change something. A lot of people opinions come from bias of previous basses with other pickups that they maybe like more than the MK1s, but you might not have that experience. Same goes for strings.
  8. To continue the red and tort combo - Chris Seldon Ranger 434
  9. Both and great basses, but Cort will feel more premium vs the SUB but I've always found Cort just lack...something. Since you've already got an Ibanez the Cort will probably sound quite similar (good clean, modern sound) whilst the SUB will give you a different tonal option and a more "classic" look.
  10. Keep your eyes peeled for an older Squier Bronco. Afternoons work with some sandpaper and get a can of pink spray paint. Jobs a good un
  11. I have several (albeit less valuable than those mentioned above) that I don't play. As others said, selling stuff for the sake of selling regularly leads to regret when they aren't there. If and when money or space (or you play another bass that blows you away) become and issue, the look to see who doesn't make the cut. Another idea could be to lend one of them to a friend should it be possible. See if you miss it then.
  12. Just had one of these donated by my Dad as he uses a Spark Mini for all his practicing needs and I hope this is the kick I need to get playing again. Seems very handy to have at the desk with a set of headphones and you're away - no more digging out the amp from the cupboard!
  13. Seems weird that there is at least 5 BBs for sale on the forum just now and @AndyTravis is yet to buy one of them 😂 Jokes aside, some great BBs (both new and old) available.
  14. That's quite the hit to take in such a short period of time. Great bargain for you though!
  15. I've noticed the Longhorn picking up a few fans recently, so this might interest you.... https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2024/03/22/danelectro-announces-the-red-hot-longhorn-bass/
  16. Most likely - yes. But I think this is down to algorithms on YouTube/Social Media that he has to play like this to get likes and clicks. He is probably a rock solid bass player if you need him to be, but that's not going to wow the internet and make him money.
  17. How absolutely bizarre - was just googling these this morning as I had half forgotten about them in the vain hope that none were for sale. Welp.
  18. A few months ago, I watched a video of a guy designing and building a guitar/bass with a spinning round neck. He surprisingly got it to work! Now Charles Berthoud has got his hands on it. Not everyone's cup of tea, but you have to admire his ability to play his style on almost any stringed instrument.
  19. A weird world where you can get a bass with Sadowsky on the headstock for less than a Squier 😅
  20. Have a look here https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/490616-vox-starstream-h1-short-scale-with-kent-armstrong-pickup/
  21. I don't own a SR300, but as others have said SRs a very well priced 2nd hand - just be aware that it's really only the SR300s that use the Powerspan pickups. So if you've tried one and liked how it sounds, anything higher up the range will be similar, but will have different pickups.
  22. Although on mentioning this to my Dad, he's just offered me his Mighty Plug since he doesn't use it. Damn him for ruining my GAS! 😂
  23. I have been in a pretty long term funk with not playing - whilst the basses are out, any amp I have is tucked away behind other things so I can't just pick up a bass on the spur of the moment. I've heard very good things about the NUX but this seems a touch more polished (as you would expect). I reckon this could be a purchase and see if it gets me playing again!
  24. We are very spoilt with how we can communicate, and it is very frustrating when we don't receive answer to what we view as a simple question after the standard 3-5 working days. If you really like your Lionel, I would persevere with trying to get the specs you want. Again, we are spoilt for choice with basses, but if you like something the patience might pay off. I would try either GuitarGuitar or Classic & Cool Guitars as they might have encountered your question before and have an answer, or have a better line of comms to Sandberg. Might not be a quick answer, but it might get you what you want in the long run.
